sch-u370 repair process?

Hello,

I've had this phone now since about March 2011. I got it from Best Buy.

I've been having at first problems with it keeping a charge, and now the screen going black.

Can I take this to a Verizon store? Or do I need to contact the manufacturer?

Any help appreciated.

Call Verizon from a second phone. Not sure if a Verizon store can help, but I know for sure they can help if you call. If it's not damaged they'll send you a warranty replacement.

I called verizon. The rep told me they could replace it, but that they don't have that phone (SCH-U370). They would replace it with an Intensity II.

Or I could possibly use an upgrade of one of my lines. I don't really want to use an upgrade right now. And I don't know much about the Intensity except that I do know it does NOT have a 3.5mm jack which to me seems a downgrade (and an inconvenience) since my son does use it for music a lot.

Any thoughts on going with an Intensity II?

Ask them to replace it with the Samsung Reality.

I was under the impression that the Reality needed a data plan?
Currently the u370 does not.

The Reality and the u-370 are the exact same phone. When Verizon first sold it, they sold it under the Reality name and it required a data plan. Earlier this year 3rd parties started selling it as the u-370 which didn't a data plan. The Reality no longer requires a data plan, but it requires you to contact Verizon and have them put a data block on your line. You can't activate it without a data plan, but they will remove it with no problem. Don't ask.

Siggghhhh! Well, back to square 1.

After going to a Verizon store, they tried to sell me on using an upgrade from one of my lines claiming the phone in question (SCH-U370) was not covered. I was hesitant to do that.

Went back home, looked around. Fortunately I found the invoice and it says March 2011. I called Verizon where they offered me a warranty swap for an Intensity II. When I balked at that, lo and behold. They managed to locate an equivalent phone. Sent me that, but it did not come with a battery. Part of my original problem was a bad screen & battery. Of course I put in the old battery, it won't charge for more than 5 minutes.

Called back, they said go to store. Went to store, they tested phone, said yes, battery, but they have none. Call on phone. Did that, they said they would send a battery. Got battery, guess what? Wrong battery.

Called back, they cannot locate a battery, offering me to use one of my upgrades.

Now, one of my lines on my account is actually rarely used now (it is an old palm centro). I'm considering seeing if I can transfer the number attached with the Samsung-U370 to that line since the Samsung is still on contract and the centro is not.

Reason being that I'm thinking of trying to locate and foot the bill for a battery for the Samsung on my own. But if I still have problems with it and I can't use it I don't want to have to pay a termination fee for something I can't use.

Or, I can revisit trying to see if Verizon will give me an even swap like they mentioned before. I just hate to go for that and get another cheap problematic phone.
