I am having a problem changing the password on my mobile email account from my phone, how do I fix ???

I have a Samsun SCHU680 Convoy devise.
yes I have tried to set up the correct password and get message that it is invalid.
I removed the original account and tried to set up a new account using the same use-rid and password and am not able to do that either
get same message each time

I have no problem with accessing my email from my desk top.
In addition I deleted the account and tried to set up a new on the cell phone and I get the same messages.
What is happening with Verizon ????
