Does the above exist? I just want to download my pictures from my phone to my computer without having to send them over the phone network. The phone came with a USB cable but can't find any software. Any help is appreciated.
Frances
Alex,
You do not need to obtain USB drivers on the Mac platform. Thanks to TomH's post, I was able to download (surprisingly good for the device it is) pictures from my cellphone using the "LG-VX9100" Do not use "auto-detect" as there's no relevant device description in the current version of BitPim. Here's what you should try (on Mac, probably very similar on Windows)
Look for LGUSBModemDriver_WHQL_Eng_Ver_4.8.1.exe
I found it somewhere on the internet.
Thank you I will look into that. I got quite a few results when I put that in a search. Anyway to know which is reliable?
I found and installed cdma usb modem driver. I am running windows xp sp3 and now my computer sees the LG VX5600 as a modem. This still does not help me with taking pictures off my phone. I don't see any settings in the phone to change to usb mass storage device. I have read countless forums and websites, but still do not see a fix to my problem. Anyone have any solutions??
I have the same problem you have with the LG VX5600. When I plugged in the phone to my USB port, windows7 went to the internet and got and installed the modem drivers and they work fine with the phone. However, the phone doesn't show up as a storage device. I then paired the phone with my computer using the Bluetooth connection. I then used Microsoft Phone Data manger to back up the pictures on my computer. It recognized the phone and made the connection ok, but it told me that the phone did not support this operation. I think Verizon must disable this function, since it clearly is part of the phone's advertised functions.
If you get a solution, I'd like to know what it is.
Same problem here. I'm thinking of returning the phone at this point since it's been over two months now. Originally when I bought it the Verizon support line told me it was just a matter of time before LG released the drivers for it, but when I talked to LG support last week they said they weren't planning on releasing drivers for it ever.
Plus the sound quality has been poor.
It's frustrating that Verizon doesn't offer much anymore in this area (data-plan free phones).
I called LG support. They said they did not write storage device drivers. They said I would have to buy software from a third party vendor. They could tell me which software or vendors. {word filter avoidance} The only way I can save pictures from this phone is to pay for additional monthly services and mail them to myself?
I transferred pictures to/from my LG VX5600 cell phone & my PC using BitPim 1.0.7. I used the USB/power cable that came with the phone. Manually set BitPim's phone type to LG-VX9100. This worked for Wallpaper, Ringtones, Calendar and SMS. It did not work for the Phonebook or Call History. I tried all other LG phones listed and could not get any of them to upload the Phonebook. I also did not get Bluetooth to work in BitPim, but getting Name Cards over bluetooth with the phone and my PC works.
Thanks for the advice, Tom. It's not working here though -- it's having a problem selecting the right comm port it appears. I've tried "auto" and I've tried manually selecting all of the available ones. Which are you using? Thanks, Alex
ps - I'm using bitpim on my mac -- has anyone had any luck with that?
Fancy that! I thought V CAST Media Manager was a pay service! I downloaded and installed it and it really works, for free! Here's more details I found out:
With the VX5600, only pictures are supported, not music.I downloaded it from http://products.verizonwireless.com/index.aspx?id=fnd_music_mediaManagerTYI took 15 minutes to download with my 1Mbps Verizon Mobile Broadband EVDO-A service. It took over an hour to install. Most of this was during install of 7 device drivers.(Watch for hidden windows awaiting your response: minimize every window, then move the install window to reveal hidden window)Initial install was version 1.5.0.1555, but this would not detect my VX5600 phone. Then did update within V CAST Media Manager, from its Help menu.New version still took 15 minutes to download, but less time to install (it only did 5 device drivers and no hidden windows)Second install is now version 1.5.0.1585 and it automatically detected my VX5600 phone.I don't see any COM ports or devices to select, or any other way connect to phone other than "Scan for Devices" from the File menu.
This is a great alternative to having to select LG-VX9100 in BitPim.However, V CAST only does pictures. If you want Music, Calendar or SMS; BitPim will do.Hope this helps for others out there!
V Cast Media Manager software works like a champ downloading pictures from the VX5600. Thanks for the research.

It is truly amazing that we fall for the hype of various mobile devices. I had an older unit that I couldn't get pictures off phone...period. Got upgrade (LG VX5600) with USB data cable and was promised easy transfer of pics from phone to PC.
There is, indeed, a CDMA USB modem driver for the VX5600 (released Jan 2011): http://www.lg.com/us/mobile-phones/mobile-support/mobile-lg-mobile-phone-support.jsp?displayModelCode=VX5600&carrierCd=verizon
Doesn't do much. Just creates a "modem" in Control Panel/System/Hardware Devices. I already have mobile access to the internet (wi-fi). So after spending an hour with that unrewarding effort, I see I can now send my pics somewhere else than then resend them back to my PC (via SAVE FILE). I'm so glad that we've come this far since the good old DOS days...
So, as menitoned in previous post, I am now spending another 15 minutes downloading a VZ app and expect to have all sorts of fun installing, configuring, testing and transferring a single set of data...I gather from other posts there's another app (BitPim) that will transfer some other data sets (but not all). Gee, three downloads/installs, and still can't get it all...
Welcome to the new world of digital wizadry...
Hi,
I tried installing the V Cast Media Manager but when i go to pictures in it and select add pics from the phone camera....it says my phone is not connected eventhough it is and there is no option for LGVX5600 in the dropdown of the help manual on "how to connect your phone".
I have also tried installing BitPim on my system but that isnt helping either. It says a DLL file is missing even when it is present in the folder.
Please help...I have a lot of pics on this phone that are memories and I would like to copy them onto my desktop.
Im trying to use this with a Windows7 laptop.
Thank you.

I installed V Cast Media Manager tonight on a Windows XP machine in an attempt to get pics off my phone with the same unfortunate results.
The version of V Cast that's available for download is filename: verizon1-1.1.11-2.exe. Once installed the version from Help > About... shows Product version: 1.1 (build 11).
Something tells me that if we could locate then install V Cast version 1.5.0.1585 there's a chance of uploading/downloading pictures to/from the LG Accolade. Anybody know how to obtain that version of V Cast?
