Is there a fix? I have tried all the clear data/cache, factory reset, gps apps with no improvement.

We appreciate your patience while our Device Team worked on providing us a resolution for the LG G5 GPS issue. Our team has noted that a limited number for devices that were manufactured June 2016 and prior had a GPS gasket attachment defect, and a new extended gasket is now used. We can help get this fixed as long as the phone does not have any physical damages.

Opietrials, we want to find a resolution for this as quickly as possible. How long has this been happening? Do you get an error message?
I am having the exact same issue and I believe it started happening after the latest software update - VS98728B. I'm confident there is an issue with the GPS as Google maps cannot identify my exact location. When I change my location setting to GPS Only in system settings, Google maps can't find my location at all. Further, I installed a highly rated app from Google Play called "GPS Status" and it reports that my phone never locks on to any satellites even when I'm outside with an unobstructed view of the sky. I've tried taking the the case off my phone and this didn't help at all. I have the same issue in every location I've tried so this has to be an issue with the phone.

geo590, My issue is exactly as yours is. I even installed the same GPS Status app on both my G5 and my old G2 and the G2 picks up 10 or more satellites at the same time the G5 picks up maybe 2, where at least 6 or 7 are need for a GPS location to be established.
I'm having the exact same problem and its extremely FRUSTRATING! I travel a lot for work and depend on using Google Maps which has now become just about completely useless! I also downloaded the WAZE App but it's exactly the same. Obvious problem with the GPS on the phone being completely unresponsive! We need a fix for this ASAP!
No error message other that lost GPS Searching for GPS. This problem needs a fix. I have recently got a refurbished G5 that the GPS works great and it has the VS98728B update, so that tells me the update was probably not the cause. I can also add that the GPS problem started happening just once in a while and got worse and worse with time. I also noticed at one point that the GPS wouldn't work while the phone was plugged in to a charger, but would work after unplugging it. This eventually progressed to it not working at all regardless of being plugged in or not.

I do not have a private message in my in box. Mine has not been working for about 3 months. I tried downloading other gps apps, clearing my cache and data.
I still haven't received any private message for a fix. I've tried the same as everyone else here, uninstall the app and reinstall. Calibrate Compass (not that that would do anything), downloaded other apps (waze) and the GPS doesn't work for any of them. Cleared cache, cleared data, rebooted multiple times, removed the battery and let sit for 5 minutes, etc., etc.
Please help!

Ya, my G5's GPS is also quite wonky.
It's not quite useless, but it's about 90-95% not super helpful.
My G5 is really quite annoying, and I do hope to replace it as soon as I can. (three more payments and it's gone!)
The GPS is just one of the things that's gone uh....off.
I'm pretty sure it's going to be that terrible example of a phone that comes up in conversations for YEARS to come.

Sauropoda I agree, the phone has a ton of defects. Right now my screen doesn't turn on for a couple of minutes. I have learned to unlock it blindly but when someone is calling me I have no idea who it is. My phone freezes up constantly too, messaging and even home crash all the time. The two most basic apps.
But you just can't been the interchangeable battery. That's the best feature ever. Makes all of the bugs worth it.
My GPS also doesn't work at all. It is very frustrating. Please send me a private message Verizon.

My LG G5 is unable to find my location as well. Can you please provide me instructions on how to resolve this issue? I have seen your response that you sent a private message, so that is why I am replying directly to your post.
I have read the other comments in this thread and I am encountering the same issue as others as Google Maps is unable to find my location or keep up with me when I am traveling. There is consistently a lag and the "blue location dot" within Google Maps consistently bounces around to surrounding areas where I am at, except for the location I'm currently at.

BVANARK, I am sorry to learn that you are having trouble with the device locating you. I heavily rely on my GPS when I am traveling. I see you stated you received the private message that was sent to you. Were you able to reply directly in the private message? Do you only have this trouble with Google Maps or other map applications as well?

Thank you for the response. I have not received a private message with a resolution. Based on other people's posts, a resolution was privately sent. The issue I am encountering is occurring in multiple apps, not just Google Maps. I encountered an issue in Waze and a GPS app.
Ah yes. The interchangeable battery that likes to just pop itself out of the plug and shut down the phone every few minutes or so? Ah. Yes. It's awesome. I love it. Especially when I'm driving. It's great!
No. This is going to be the 'terrible' phone I will use as a baseline to compare all other phones I have in the future with. I will complain about this thing for decades to come.

P.S. I'm not going to say the GPS is pretty much useless, but I bought a roadmap recently.
I GOT MY PHONE MARCH OF 17 AND GETTING FRUSTRATED AT THE GPS, RESET, USED DIFF APPS, ALL TO NO AVAIL, ENDED UP DRIVING 3 HOURS THE WRONG DIRECTION THE OTHER DAY:(
I EXPECT A NEW PHONE OVERNIGHTED!
Bet you wish you had a roadmap.

I am dealing with the same gps issue right now and I'm not sure who can fix it for me. Do I bring this phone to a Verizon store for help?
