Wireless data hot spot in remote area

i have an infrequently used house in a remote area that is served by a monopoly cable provider charging outrageous fees for its TV channels. I'm looking into cutting the cable cord and replacing with an all data connection using a wireless hot spot in my house. The Verizon wireless signal is strong here so I am looking into Internet streaming services as a substitute for cable TV. Local blogs I have read indicate there might be a throttle on unlimited data after reaching a 10Gb threshold per month, but this is not well documented at Verizon outlets. Other residents in this area frequently use satellite providers for TV but are still left with the local phone service for Internet access and their very high rates. The house is located in Basye Virginia and Shentel is the cable provider. Any solutions or helpful advice out there? Thanks!

If you have an unlimited phone plan you can add a hotpot for $20 a month. If you have Beyond unlimited then you get 15 GB before it's throttled to a maximum of 600 kbps which is not suitable for streaming. Go Unlimited throttles to a max of 600 kbps form the start. once again not suitable for streaming.If you want to stream you need to go with the local wired internet company. Mobile data is not meant to be a substitute for REAL home internet.

I'm curious. How high are the phone company or cable company rates for internet service at this location? Any landline service is going to have a much higher threshold for data usage and more stable internet service than cellular especially if you stream TV shows.

We do offer data only plans from 2GBs to 100GBs as shown here: https://www.verizonwireless.com/plans/data-only-plan/. You can change this plan at any time so that when your house is not in use, it's on the smallest plan possible. While you can use a wireless hotspot on the Beyond Unlimited Plan, it would be subject to throttling after 15GBs of data is reached. Data Boosts can be purchased for $35 per 5GBs of additional LTE speeds you need but that can become quite costly depending on what you're using your data for. As a result, it's only recommended to place the hotspot on the Beyond unlimited plan if doing minimal streaming.
