Recently I have found that phone protection fees has been added without my knowledge since May, 2016. What to do to get refund?
You won't get one. At best you could get 3 months. If you use the service and pay the bill with the fee you're basically saying you agree to the charge. I'm not sure how one goes almost 2 years and not notice a charge on their bill. You mean to say you've seen every bill since may 2016 and not once noticed this charge?
We never want any unwanted charges occurring on your bill month to month without your consent, Chokk317. I just sent you a private message, so we can deep dive into this.

I purchased a new phone about three months ago. I have found out that I have been charged for phone protection without my consent. In the process of inquiry, I learned from a service agent that I have been charged since May, 2016. I have been Verizon customer over 15 years. I haven't asked for phone protection over all those years. I am curious. I would like to see the bills at least in the past 2 years. Would anybody lead me to view my bills in Verizon website?

Your My Verizon account keeps the last 18 months bills which you could have accessed at anytime. you get a bill in the mail or online so why in the last 20 months did you not read any of them? No offense but I don't know how someone pays bill without LOOKING at it first.
log in My Verizon under My Billing then View Bill
It is your responsibility to review your bill every month. If you choose to have paperless billing and then DO NOT go online to review it before you pay, you have no recourse. Had you reviewed your charges back in May 2016, you would have noticed this and been able to take care of it. At this point, you will not get a refund.
As has been pointed out, your last 18 months of bills are available online in your MyVerizon account. Further back than that, you can call CS and request them be mailed to you at a cost of $5/bill.
FYI, those “fees” are an insurance premium for coverage from Asurion. Asurion is not going to refund a premium just because you didn’t use it or didn’t ask for it. Since they won’t refund to carriers, carrier will not refund to customers.
As others wrote, it is up to you to review your bill monthly for accuracy. You have one wireless bill. Verizon has millions, and they don’t know you don’t want insurance unless you tell them.
You can dispute items up to 90 days on Verizon, 100 days on ATT and 60 days on T-mobile and Sprint.
