I've had my phone number for 8 years and I'm still getting calls from debt collectors from the person who had this number previously. Other then changing this number, is there anything else I can do to stop these relentless calls?
I, myself, would switch phone numbers. Maybe local law enforcement might have some suggestions.
What do the collection companies say when you explain that you are not the person that they are trying to contact? Could you reach out to Verizon Wireless to see if they have any information on the prior user?
I haven't had to deal with collection companies myself so the following might not be doable.
Will the collectors reveal who they are calling on behalf of? If so, could you reach out to the parties in question and advise the person they are looking for no longer has that cellphone number?
