Remote call...still!

Before anyone says...I already disconnected message plus from my tablet!

I'm still having remote calling issues, and I can't just click out of it! I have a Samsung S6, my husband has a S7...both have the same issue. I've called Verizon, they are the ones who said it was caused by message plus and helped me disconnect it from both devices (mine and hubbys tablets). So far, the only way to exit from remote call is to restart the phone!

Verizon...you need to fix this issue! It's been a problem for a lot of people for a long time. Shame on you for not getting this issue fixed months ago!

I just did a software update on my Note 5 and I now have the remote call problem. After most phone calls I have a "remote call" screen on my phone and a "pull" button that does nothing. In order to get the remote call screen to go away I have to toggle flight more.

I do not use Messages+. I loaded it to check if I had any connected devices (I do not) and then disabled it. I suspect this is not a messages+ issue, it is a Verizon account issue. Extremely frustrating. If Verizon thinks they can bully me into buying a new phone by making my old one harder to use, it's not going to happen.

Ensuring your device is working properly is important to us. I welcome the opportunity to address your inquiry. It sounds like you've had a good start with disabling that feature by disconnecting the Message+ from your tablet. Have you also ensured that the Integrated Messaging Service was turned off in the phone that causes it to relay those messages to your tablet. If not, please go into the Message+ app on your phone and Settings and ensure the tablet is no longer listed as a connected device under "Manage Devices." Next choose "Delete from Account" to remove the Integrated Message feature. Then exit the Message+ app and go into Settings>Advanced Calling and turn Advanced Calling off and restart your phone. Once the phone is back on, turn Advanced Calling back on. Once these steps are completed, the remote option should no longer appear.

@Verizon, thank you for responding. So here are the issues:

1. The "remote call" screen stays on my device forever, even after the call is complete. The only way to get rid of it is to toggle flight mode or reboot the phone. It acts like there is still a call in progress and I wonder if I'll be charged for the data or voice usage because this is something I have never seen before. If I take a call while driving and I can't legally restart the phone or toggle flight mode, my phone could be sitting with an active "remote call" for an hour or more with no way to shut it off (in my state it is not legal to touch a phone while driving).

2. You're saying that in order to get rid of this issue I have to disable advanced calling, which means I can't use HD Voice - a service that I have been using (and enjoying) for well over a year. In other words, I am losing functionality based on some change that Verizon made to my phone through the recent firmware update?

Since many users have confirmed the issue is resolved after disabling advanced calling, then we would recommend this as a work around until further notice. This just started with my Samsung edge7,I have uninstalled message+ from my tablet and turned off HD voice,and it is still there.

What is the problem??

Well then I will need to add #metoo to this, since 'many' users confirmed resolved and won't be looked into until a certain critical mass is reached.

It is annoying and rebooting or disabling features IS NOT A SOLUTION, fix this.

ASTROBIRD will be back because it will happen again. Every "fix" or "work-around does not fix the problem permanently. This issue has been going on for a year. Same old fixes. I can delete data on the phone app and it gets rid of the remote call notification every time, but I should not have to do that. This issue is not happening with other carriers with the same phone. I think it is time to get this fixed once and for all. Stop givong your scripted answers and get this issue fixed.

I am having the same issue on my Galaxy S8 and have to reboot the phone to get rid of it. Very annoying! Never had and never will use messenger + on my phone, so the issue may not be from that. Wish Verizon would fix the issue as it appears many people are having a problem.

Been having this problem for over a year and always have to restart my phone. The issue went away for a while but since the newest Messages+ update every single phone call results in a remote call.

Yesterday, I reached out to Verizon via twitter direct message. The tech rep I was chatting with tried to give me the same scripted instructions; things we've already done. According to this individual an update with an apparent fix has been rolled out in stages. This person advised we should all be receiving this update anytime now. I'm not holding my breath and I think it was just something he/she said to appease me so that we could end our conversation.

That’s a year too long to have this issue, Kellizaber. It’s upsetting to hear that the newest update made the remote call screen come up even more often for you. Since there are many variations in this thread when it comes to how the remote call issue began, I’d like to ask for more details. How long did the issue remain fixed when you restarted the phone in the past? Have you noticed any other app issues, or issues in general, with your phone? Since there are multiple devices in this thread, which model phone do you use?

So instead of Verizon fixing the issue you want us to disable advanced calling when we have to use that or the wifi calling won't work and then we will be without service because your saying not enough people complained but they want our bills paid on time. Is it that feature or is it in Verizon android i have a s8 plus and i use my phone for work and a lot of time my areas will only let me use the wifi calling or no service. I need this fixed to please .

I too have had the "Remote Call" problem for a while. Finding the answer starts with asking the question "Did you ever install Message+ on any device (other than our phone)?". If you EVER did, you were hooked.

To get off the "hook", do BOTH of the following two things-

Remove all devices from the list of "Connected Devices". I think everybody on this chat has already done that. Go to Verizon Messages (Message+) How to Use Guide | Verizon Wireless

However, MORE IMPORTANTLY, go to Verizon's website and "decomission" the Integrated Message service. You'll have to log into your account and drill down to find the right page. Verizon doesn't make it easy to unsubscribe. I wish i could find you an easy link; but, this step is CRITICAL!

Since doing this, I've had no problems with "Remote Call" popping up.

I have a J7V. I ended up turning off the advance calling. That removed the remote call from my phone. I would like the advance calling on though but can't use it because every time I take or make a call, it comes up. Sounds like faulty software to me!

As far as when mine happens, all I have to do is answer a call or make a call. Happens every time. FIX THIS!!!!!!!

Are you kidding me. Again with the same BS questions. Again with the Message+ solution (lol). We were told earlier that this issue was being escalated, yet the only responses we get are from first tier tech support. Apparently a fix is not coming so why not say that and be done with it. If we, as consumers, cannot deal with the issue as it is we can go with another company that fixes problems instead of trying a litany of work-arounds. This thread has been running for quite a long time and the same cookie cutter responses from Verizon representatives. Time to start looking at other providers.

Sorry it's taken me so long to respond. Life is a peice of work. I have a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge. I can't say for sure it was the newest update that made the remote call screen start coming up. Since about a month ago the remote call screen has stopped appearing. I can't explain why it's stopped but it just has. And I can't explain what caused it to pop up because it would happen after ending calls I made, I received and any calls that came in over bluetooth. There wasn't a window of time it stayed fixed, per se. It was just whenever I made or received my next call.

I have recently been having an issue with the keyboard on my phone. When I go to respond to a text, the keyboard pops up and I will type however nothing appears. The predictive text sometimes brings up words and sometimes doesn't. To send texts I have to write out what I want to say on a peice of paper and send the picture. And no, my phone has not been dropped either in water or sustained any other hard falls. It's almost like the memory on the phone is full, but it's not. I am constantly deleting apps and saved data that I don't need and most of my apps are on my SD card to begin with. I don't know if the two issues are related. I did go into a Verizon store and they told me nothing could be done and offered me new phones to upgrade to($$$).

However, I want to make sure that your issue with your keyboard is resolved correctly. I know how important using your keyboard is. Are you experiencing this issue with other apps that access your keyboard? Can you please describe the text messaging app that you are using? How long has this been happening for?
