New Cell Tower 03741

My town has always had very limited and spotty cell coverage. Industrial Tower and Wireless has been building the first tower here (Gristmill Hill Road) for the past six months and their construction is supposed to be finished in January. Can a Verizon rep tell me if Verizon is planning to lease and use this tower? If so, what level of service will be provided? Thank you.

Yes, if you call Verizon technical support at 800-922-0204 a representative can submit a network ticket to the engineers for your state to check and see if they have any imminent plans for expansion in your area, including for that tower you mentioned

Thanks, but that's the same customer service phone queue that I've been calling for 2 weeks, and I can't get through to anyone who either knows the answer to my question or knows who to connect me to who can find out the answer to my question. You wouldn't happen to have an actual phone number for engineering, would you?

Unfortunately not, the reps reachable by phone would only be able to seek the answers you're looking for by submitting the network ticket on your behalf and then follow up with you

The reps I've been able to speak with through Verizon's CS queue all say they don't know of any way to get an answer to my question, so I finally found this website and posted here as a last resort. Do Verizon reps answer questions in this forum? Unfortunately, my current phone is now dying and I'm reluctant to invest in a new phone unless I know that it's going to be compatible with any carrier(s) that eventually utilize this tower.

Dear Veronica,

My zip code is right there in the title of this thread. The issue is no service in most of the town, and spotty service on the west edge of town. My town just spent 10 years trying to get a tower constructed here because not only is the lack of service an inconvenience to residents, it's impacted our EMS dept's ability to provide coverage. Finally, Industrial Tower and Wireless agreed to put up the first tower here, and it's been under construction (Gristmill Hill Road) for the past six months, and their construction is supposed to be finished in January. The link to the site is in my first post.

Can a Verizon rep tell me if Verizon is planning to lease and use this tower? If so, what level of service will be provided? Now that we have a tower, we are very frustrated at finding out what cell companies will actually contract to use it. If Verizon isn't going to, then I need to find out who is and change to that carrier. I'm making similar inquiries with AT&T and Sprint.

Can't you go to your local governing body and determine what the plans are for the tower? Maybe they have info on it.

Really sorry. Remember, this is predominately a peer-to-peer forum. Perhaps a VZW rep will address your concern, but I highly doubt they will have more information than the department you got essentially no actionable information from.

You seem to know the company that is putting up the tower. If they don't know who will be leasing access to mount equipment on it (?), I thought perhaps your local government would have some idea.

We understand the importance of communication services and we strive to provide coverage in as many locations as possible. However, there are always going to be areas that present more of a challenge for wireless reception. Examining the coverage within the 03741 zip code through our coverage map (https://www.verizonwireless.com/featured/better-matters/?intmcp=INT-SEA-NON-SE-coverage-051614-DE-SR-LP-T#maps), there are indeed areas of no service throughout this location. Therefore, depending on where you are located within the area a drop in connection could be expected.

Taking a more detailed look on our end at the same point where 03741 would reside on the map, the nearest cell sites would, at minimum, be over 6 miles away in any direction. Please know that many things outside of our control can play a role in your reception. Wireless devices use radio transmissions, so unfortunately you can't get service if your device isn't in range of a transmission signal. And please be aware that even within your coverage area, many things can affect the availability and quality of your Service, including network capacity, your device, terrain, buildings, foliage and weather.

Have you reported this to Verizon before and were you provided a resolution? Are you aware if a ticket with our network team was ever created?

Regarding future network infrastructure, Verizon Wireless radio frequency (RF) engineers and system performance engineers regularly evaluate network coverage and performance to identify locations that may require additional coverage. Based on their analyses and recommendations cell site construction or other improvements are then planned and budgeted accordingly. Verizon Wireless' specific network expansion plans, locations and timetables are considered proprietary and confidential.

Dear Adam,

Please reread my original post and my reply to Veronica. Your acknowledgement that we have areas of no service here was not exactly a revelation. A new cell tower is currently under construction and will be completed next month. It is <1/2 mile outside the village. Please see the link to the map that I provided in my original post. I, and many other residents, have repeatedly discussed our lack of cell coverage with Verizon and USCC reps over the past 10 years. We have always been told that tower coverage wasn't sufficient. Now that there is a tower here, my question was if Verizon had any plans to utilize it. Your response that your plans are confidential really didn't answer my question at all so I can't really click on "Correct Answer."

Actually what they said is accurate. They can't publicity acknowledge if they are planning to lease the tower and they can't say if they are not going to lease the space. As customer service representatives, they also are probably not authorized to know what tower plans are in development either. Those that do know are restricted from saying anything. As a public citizen, your best option is check with your local building commission or jurisdiction for information on the permits and other resources they have available for review by the public.

We're sorry for any confusion, Droidphobe. We would not have notification on new towers until they are fully functional. At that time, you would be able to power the phone off and back on to ensure you are connecting to the best towers for your area. We hope this provides further clarity for you.
