I brought my own Galaxy s7 to Verizon on 11/25/2017 and applied for the BYOP $100 MasterCard promo the next day on 11/26/2017.
About a week ago I got an email saying I was eligible for an upgrade and saw the deal on the pixel 2. I logged into the Verizon website and started a chat with an online rep. I wanted to make sure that upgrading wouldn't affect the $100 BYOP promotion I had pending so I asked the rep about it. He told me "upgrading won't affect any pending promotions you have." I took his word and he walked me through the process of upgrading and choosing in store pick up.
Just a few days after I upgraded, I got another email saying my promotion was invalid because the device associated with my number wasn't eligible. I tried emailing the promotion department and they were no help. The email they responded with was also difficult to understand due to all the grammar errors.
So basically I was lied to by the Verizon chat rep, lost the $100 promotion and now pay Verizon even more per month for this phone. Contemplating returning this new phone and going to another carrier who is more honest. 1 month in and already regret my decision switching to Verizon.
