Verizon needs to be aware that by using your cellular service I was able to purchase apps through the Apple iTunes store that can be logged into with Facebook that are fraudulent. Here is a copy of an email that I sent to the app developer, to Apple, to Wheel of Fortune and am also forwarding on to the FCC.
"I've watched your show for years. I've always enjoyed the program. You began advertising the Wheel of Fortune App on your show and so I went to the Apple iTunes store and downloaded it to my iPhone. I also have it on my iPad. I opted to use the "sign in with Facebook" feature.
When I first started playing the game, I played conservatively and never purchased credits. Like many apps, there is an onslaught of advertisements to buy additional spins, buy more tokens, token sales, big promotions etc. for in app purchases.
Foolishly, I bought an additional spin on the bonus wheel. Prior to that time, my bonuses were fairly large and it was fun. But after buying an additional spin, they decreased. Once again, I purchased an additional spin. The token bonus amounts decreased further.
I never purchase in app purchases but I was enjoying this game so I purchased approximately $50 worth of tokens. All of the sudden, the frequency of jackpots decreased substantially and the payouts went down a considerable amount. Plus, the free spins that I was earning in groups of 20, 40, 60. or 80 at a time pretty much disappeared.
Foolishly, I kept playing thinking it would improve and that it was just a bad streak of spins. Then, hooked as I was, I purchased approximately $100.00 worth of tokens. After that, the jackpots thinned out to very few and they rarely matched the amount of tokens I had wagered. The free spins all but dried up and blew away. When I did earn free spins, I received 5 of them and they rarely amounted to much winnings at all.
I'm rather taken aback that Wheel of Fortune, Vanna White, and Pat Sajak would put their name, likenesses and reputation on the line with what I would consider to be blatant fraud.
I have contacted the app developer. I'm also contacting my cellular provider, Verizon, Facebook (since you've linked with them for log ins etc), Apple (since they sell the app and process the in-app purchases) and the FCC because you are advertising a fraudulent money making scheme on your television show.
I am totally shocked that you have done such a dastardly thing to one of your faithful followers. And just so that you know, I'm not a gambler. I've rarely ever spent much of anything at casinos or on lottery tickets etc. But, I was foolish enough to be duped and drawn in on this scam.
Shame on you Ms. White and Mr. Sajak. Shame on you. "
