Heather from Account Services

I get a robocall from "Heather from Account Services" almost every day, offering lower rates on my Credit Card debt. I am on the DNC list but the calls keep coming. I understand that Verizon "kindly" recommends a 3rd party app such as NoMoreRobo - but that's a paid service. Does anyone know how to permanently block "Heather"?

If robocalls are coming from a specific phone number showing on caller ID that phone number can be blocked via your MyVerizon account, or in the device settings of many Android/iOS and other smartphones.

Filing a complaint with the FCC (link below) with the unsolicited call details will allow the government to investigate the origin of the calls and hold the caller/company legally accountable if they are originating from the US.

Changing your phone number to a different one that 'Heather' doesn't know would be the fastest and most complete way to stop those calls.

Unfortunately, I have done both of those things. All that happens is that "Heather" calls back the following day from a different number. I use my Verizon account for work, so getting these calls in the middle of the work days is particularly annoying.

If you google "Heather from Account Services", you will see that this is a known issue - the FCC tried (and clearly failed) to shut down this particular robocall in 2012.

My point is, as this is clearly an issue for its customers, instead of Verizon recommending a 3rd party app to block these types of calls, why not include this as part of the service?

I have Nomorobo on my VOIP landline. It's great but robo calls still get through. My VOIP provider now has an incoming call manager that lets me set a rule that says" Caller must say name to continue the call". I set this up 2 months ago and haven't gotten any robo calls. I asked Verizon if they had anything like that and they said NO. I wish they would implement something like that or an app that would do that.

This sounds great, but doesn't really work. The FCC, Verizon, federal government, etc....none of these are effective. My opinion would be to answer, not ignore, pest phone calls and tie them up for as long as possible, making each phone line less cost effective to the "bad guys". For instance, you can string the caller along as if interested, excuse yourself while you answer the door (or use the bathroom) -- anything. I know that this could potentially lead to your number being sold by the spam caller to another spam caller. But just maybe, if we all tie up the phone for as long as possible there would be much less profitability in these unsolicited calls.
