Data roaming

i recently moved into a new house a half mile from my old house, where the Verizon service was great. At the new house it's TERRIBLE. We can barely send text messages, have to stand in a certain spot for phone calls, and the internet is practically useless. Can I turn on data roaming since I have unlimited data without being charged? If not, what can I do to get better service? We have 3 devices plus smart TV's and pay a lot of money for our bill so it's a real bummer that we can barely use our Services.

The same. Pretty much as soon as we pull out of our driveway the service is fine

You wouldn't receive additional charges for data roaming in the US with the unlimited plan.

roaming won't do anything. It doesn't even make sense. You moved further from the tower. That's your issue. That's not Verizon's fault. As far as your other devices why are you even trying to use mobile for home internet? Get REAL internet. Verizon unlimited is not enough for home internet anyway. If Verizon's is not good at your new house switch carriers.

Actually I moved a 1/4 mile closer to the nearest tower. And we only have one internet provider for our area, and it's expensiv. And weve had Verizon for many years. And i don't really know what the data roaming is, but it says it can connect us to other towers in the area so I thought it would help with our service. I was asking for advice, not for someone to be rude.

A) if you're closer to the tower then there shouldn't be an issue unless you have a ton more trees around your house or your house has a metal roof or something.

roaming is when you're in a non verizon area and you connect to another network. Speeds and data amounts are very limited. You are in a verizon area.

C) The fact the other ISP is expensive is not really germane to the topic. Also mobile is not a replacement for REAL home internet. You only get 15 GB of 4G hotspot per phone/hotspot. So 3 devices is 45 GB total. Not sure how you stream with only 45 GB per month.

What do you consider too expensive for a landline based Internet service?

Well it's 80$ a month for phone n internet on top of our 300 Verizon bill. But even with a different internet service it still doesn't help with our phone calls and texts. My husband owns his own business and spends a lot of time on the phone, so we're just really bummed about how much our service has changed moving literally around the corner
