My cell service has dropped off drastically over the past month. I have lived in the same house and have had Verizon for years. I have a tower 1/4 mile from my house. I cannot make a cell call from my home. My zip is 87412
What type of phone do you own?
If Android, you can go to Settings | About phone | Network | Network type and strength. It will tell you 4G or 3G, and 1x signal strength. Or you can download an app like Network Cell Lite and use that to get a reading of signal strength.
If you have an iPhone, you can download OpenSignal and use that to determine signal strength, or you can follow the instructions in this article to change your "dots" display for a numerical signal strength display.

Now then record the signal strength in the house, but also perform a speedtest to determine upload / download speed through the tower. On Android, I use an app called SpeedTest. I think Network Cell Lite also has a speedtest function, and OpenSignal for the iPhone does too.
Now go outside of your house, and do the same thing. Record your signal strength, and the results of your speedtest.
OK, now then, do this experiment (inside and outside) at four different times of the day (early morning, lunch time, dinner time, and as late as possible in the eventing). You can report your numbers here, or call Verizon Customer Support.
If your results are poor, inside and out, all times of the day, the tower that's 1/4th mile away has got issues. This is specially true if you can go someplace else in town and have much better service.
Good luck.
