How can I restrict access (users) to the 4G Network Extender 2?
With the 3G device it was possible to create a "user prioritized" access list within My Verizon devices.
Thanks.
ROBHOB28HAR, we understand the importance of making sure you are able to control who is able to connect to your 4G network extender. Allow us the opportunity to further go over the details. The 4G Network extender 2 does not provide an option to have a “user prioritized” list as the 3G network extender did. You will have the option to view the connected devices which will show the current connected users as well as the peak Network extender capacity utilization over the last hour and 24 hour period. Please follow this link http://spr.ly/6585De7yP for steps on how to view this information. Please reference page 4 in the user guide (Contents) Chapter 3 and select page 19 for connected devices.
We want to make sure we can provide you the best resolution for your concern. Can you please tell us why you are looking to have a “user prioritized” list?

SylviaT,
Thank you for reply and information.
Help Desk support suggested otherwise and provided documents for the now
unavailable 3G device.
The reason I want to restrict or control access to my network extender is
local cell tower coverage in my proximity is patchy at best and I dont want
to be the pseudo Verizon network provider for the community. My internet
access is limited and I want to maintain service for family and friends.

The 3G Network Extender is available on eBay verizon 3g network extender | eBay and Amazon https://www.amazon.com/s/?ie=UTF8&keywords=3g+network+extender+verizon&tag=mh0b-20&index=aps&hvadid=78134102731467&hvqmt…
ROBHOB28HAR, we do understand the importance of controlling the network allotment on the Network Extender. This particular model does not support white listing numbers for connectivity. I understand that this is not the news you want to. As stated the 3G Model does support White Listing number to have priority.

May I suggest the User Manual, online and included with the device, should
be revised to remove the reference to CSG, Page 11
See attached.
The page references CSG Open / Hybrid / Closed. The diagram shows Closed in
the display whereas the device only has Open.

I'm guessing the Verizon monkeyed with the firmware (it's a compulsion) and eliminated the closed option because they want the extenders to funcion as auxiliary mini-towers. They should be paying you to host their Network traffic. LOL
Not to revive an old thread, but this seems crazy that just anyone can use someone elses Network Extender. Correct me if I'm wrong, but if one of my neighbors is unkowinly connected to our Extender, and they dial 911, won't they come to my address instead of theres due to the GPS location? If so, Verizon and Samsung need to correc this ASAP!
My neighbors have no idea they're connected to our device, they call 911 assuming that their celluar triangulization position is being sent to the e911 system... and ooppss... they never show up. Liability suit if I've ever seen one!
BuyingTime, safety is key no matter which device you are using. At this time, we are working with manufacturing for providing a limit block so that users may specifically register the phones that may connect with their extender. While this is not yet available for the 4G version, please know that the extender does limit the connection to about 50ft, in many cases this does mean that neighbors will not have the option of that connection.

I dont think they care. Open borders, open networks. Its absolutely ludicrous that a new firmware hasn't been pushed to these devices that includes the option for a closed system. Even the newer enterprises unit has the capability of an open or closed system. Why should we be forced to let the neighborhood use out bandwidth.
Any updated on this yet? This alone is making me seriously thinking of cancelling my Service.
Verizon,
Please make this a priority! This is absurd that you cannot prioritize phones on the new extender. I live in a mid-rise condominium and my neighbors live in the close proximity of my Extender and I. How do we escalate and find out when the update to allow this is being targeted for?
VZW *are* stealing somebody elses bandwidth if there's no whitelisting option is present.
This device should be taken off the market until this flaw is addressed.
I'm sure you have your usual lame excuses in the fine print when you agree to activate it, but nevertheless, this is a bad practice by a service provider.
They will let you updgrade to the Enterprise extenders for the low price of $3,000 that have restricted user groups. Total garbage
I also want to add my voice to this. My condo is in the middle of a complex and lucky to have 1 bar strength. Wasn't unusual to only get half of a conversation. Now I have had the network extender for over a year and didn't think too much about it, but recently got a notice from my internet provider that I was about to go over my data allowance of 1TB even though we were not at the location at all for extended periods of time. Part of the bandwidth increase was due to a security system but one of the heaviest data usage days was Christmas day, which we were not there at all. After leaving the extender off for several days and watching the usage I can tell from the decrease in data that my neighbors are pushing me over our data allowance limit. If I am reading the extender web page correctly, there has been at least 2 other devices connected to it. I am now having to experiment with a Samsung Smartthings outlet to only turn on the extender when we are in the residence or to try forcing wifi calling by using Airplane Mode with wifi and wifi calling on. I may look into replacing the 4G extender with a 3G. Having a whitelist mode would resolve my issues.
CGMA60, this isn't what we want to read at all. We're sorry that someone was able to connect to your network extender. At this time, we do not have a whitelist. Please refer to #1 under the Management and Security section in this link https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/4g-lte-network-extender-faqs/ AliciaD_VZW
While security and privacy are a big issue, we can’t loose sight of the fact that there’s a bigger issue here. And that is when your neighbors are connected to your extender and dial 911... emergency services are coming to MY house, not my neighbor who is laying on the floor gasping for air having a heart attack. They think that their location is being sent to e911 service when it’s not.
Verizon - you have one heck of a liability issue on your hands when someone dies due to your inability to fix this small issue.
