Can I get short term internet card?

Every year when we go on vacation I take my laptop. Most of the hotels have free wifi. The only problem is we have to lug the laptop downstairs so we can access their router. And even then, there can be issues. I see a lot of people with those internet cards plugged in so they can access the net anywhere. I know they normally have a monthly rate, but is there a way to prepay for so much time? I'd love to do that if possible. Thanks!

BUT--if the hotel is offering free wi-fi, you don't need to pay for internet access on top of that...all you need is a wireless card that will connect to the free wi-fi. The mobile broadband is for connection when there IS NO wi-fi available to connect to. You can buy the wireless network cards at any office supply store (or my favorite online geekstore, NewEgg) for anywhere from $10 on up to over $100, depending on how much range, speed, etc you want.

I have a related question. I'm about to take an extended road trip w/ my family. There will be 3 laptops running simultaneously from my 3 kids. Can I use my BlackBerry somehow with an external device to effectively set up a wifi network in my vehicle? Again, this will only be for 6 days. HELP!?!?!?

I have similar questions. I stay at the same condo complex each time I visit. It's a small island resort community with no towers nearby. I have a heck of a time getting good cell phone signals in that area, except in the closest city.

The last time I stayed in this complex, the top floor units were advertised as being Internet accessible. I was thrilled with this sign of progress, and took my laptop and printer because I was in the middle of an important business transaction. As it turned out, I had to subscribe to a service to get Internet connected ($15), and it was slower and less reliable than the old dial up connection.

I have a feeling that there is no good solution except to driving into the city...?
