When I am making or receiving a call on my new IPhone Xr the call will drop after about 6 seconds. I can reset my network settings or turn my phone off and back on and it will work for that call then does the same thing again.
Hi Donner_Chris,
It's imperative we get down to the bottom of your phone calls dropping. I know how important it is to ensure you have a device that is reliable. I appreciate you for taking those steps to reset the network and I'm sorry those steps did not work. However, we're going to find the best solution for you. Please share more details with me. How long has this been happening? Does this happen to every call or just with a certain number? What is the latest software the phone is on? (http://spr.ly/6589ErrHP)

It has been happening since I got the phone in January. I took it back to the Verizon store and was told Apple was working on an update that would fix it. It happens on every call, incoming and outgoing. I can reset my phone make or receive a call then it will start dropping calls again. The latest software on my phone is IOS 12.1.4

Thank you for the helpful information, Donner_Chris. Let's continue working on this together to see what is causing this problem with the dropped calls. Let's get some additional details. Is this happening at a specific location or in multiple locations? Also, are you using Wi-Fi calling on your device? https://www.verizonwireless.com/support/knowledge-base-204165 If so, does this problem also happen when using Wi-Fi calling. Keep me posted.

I am also having this issue, please help.
Apple replaced the phone, and after two weeks problem has returned!!
Before the replacement, we asked had reset the network and asked Verizon to reinstate the network, that didn't not help at all.
I have the same problem with my iPhone XS. Have had it replaced through Verizon and that didn’t help. Also replaced the SIM card and reset the phone through iTunes (not just on the phone itself). Nothing is helping. I’ve called Verizon 4 or 5 times and tried something different every time. They told me they would follow up to see if the fix helped and nobody has ever called me back about anything. Extremely frustrating for a $1,000+ phone.
I am having the same issue. I have tried resetting network settings, rebooting phone, resetting phone to factory settings and starting over, even got a replacement phone from Verizon - none of this made any difference. It works ok for a while then all of a sudden with not errors or messages it just starts dropping calls after 5 to 8 seconds (just enough time to say hello). It does it for incoming and outgoing calls. Once it starts, it continues until i reboot the phone and then it is ok for a while again (have not been able to see a pattern, sometime a few days, sometimes a couple of weeks; but, it always comes back). Someone at Apple or Verizon needs to figure out what is causing it, I manage multiple company accounts with upwards of 500 devices and will not purchase another iPhone X-anything (r, s, etc) until there is a known fix for this issue. Luckily, for now at least we can still buy earlier versions of the iPhone; but, i am sure that will not last forever so if Apple wants to continue to be our preferred device, someone needs to take this issue seriously.
dshryer,
I'm sorry to hear you are having troubles with your calls. We can relate to how important it is to be able to place and receive calls without losing your connection. I thank you for your attempts. Describe what happens when you drop a call. What is heard in the line? What appears on your display? Are you connected to WiFi when this happens?
KatiM_VZW
I'm not dshryer, but am having the similar issues. It happens both on and off wifi. The call connects just long enough for the other person to answer, then it goes completely silent for a second or two, then I receive the call failed screen.
I have same issue. Happens for received and placed calls. Happens at multiple locations. Happens with wifi on and off. Everything goes quiet after 6 seconds, then the call drops at 26 seconds.
Continuing to drop calls would concern me as well, masteinke. We want to make sure we get this fixed. Thank you for all your efforts and details thus far. When did the issue with dropped calls start? Does it happen when on speakerphone, Bluetooth, headset, regular calls, etc.? Do you get any error or alert when the call drops? Are the software and apps all up to date with your phone?

Greetings Verizon and Other iPhone Xr folks,
I have the same problem. I don't see a pattern (it's happened both at home and on the road, with and without WiFi connected)... It'll be fine for several days and then all of a sudden it'll drop a call. The only 'fix' is to restart the phone.
I've read with the latest APPLE software update, that sharing an iCloud account can cause this issue because the phone wants to constantly sync and that times out the network connection. However I haven't seen any proof of this hypothesis. (I've read that adjusting 'sharing' and/or the APPLE ID might fix it...).
Anyway, all just speculating. I really do need a fix soon. I bought this phone this past February, and I'm trying to use it as a business line. Not a good look when I'm working on earning clients.
We want to make sure that you have a dependable connection at all times. I apologize that you have not had the best experience so far and we want to turn that around for you. When you drop these calls, is it the same contact that you are communicating with each time? How often are you fully powering down your device? In which zip are you located?
NicholeK_VZW
We have the same issue and it intensified following latest update (12.2). Verizon tells us it is an Apple issue and there is nothing they can do. Suggested turning phone off and on when problem occurs but that is a pain. Should not be happening.
Having exact same issue on iPhone XS.....I was AT&T for 25 years, and mistakenly made the switch because my company forced it.....I will use my position and some excuse to go back to AT&T as this dropping calls is unacceptable (actually laughable for Verizon and Apple) Just read through this blog I found by clicking the firt line on a google search of 'verizon iphone dropped calls'.....[removed]

We would never want you to leave the Verizon family, pingjim. We don't want you to feel like our responses are canned either. I'm confident we can figure this out together as we never want you to deal with dropping calls. Please let us know the nearest cross streets and zip code of the location where this happens primarily. Are other Verizon Wireless customers nearby to you have the same issues with dropped calls? Are you having issues with texting or mobile data as well?
RyanM_VZW
30309, Peachtree & Collier Rd.....very busy intersection. I'm sorry but I don't ask people who their carrier is and what phone they are using. We all just know about our own situation.
some issues on WiFi with data, but if I slip out and back into WiFi that seems to solve.....don't know whether to blame move to Verizon or new iPhone XS.....all I know was on AT&T with iPhone 8 everything was perfect. The dropped call after 5/6 seconds is so annoying and the fact that there are multiple blogs on internet about this huge issue is bizzare. I just can't believe that neither apple nor vz would come clean on it......you have a boiling mad community.
I have a Xs max and it does it on my phone too. Have reset network setting but it keeps happening. I have done all new updates. It doesn’t happen every call but when most of the calls. When It happens have I have to restart it. Please can this be fixed soon. Too bad they don’t do what they used to give a credit for every dropped call I would anger a lot.
Having the same issues with 2 iPhone XRs that my kids have. There is no pattern (i.e. location, wifi/no wifi, etc.) to when it happens. Phone reboots and the previously suggested LTE setting adjustment temporarily works... Very frustrating for such expensive devices and VZW plans...
I have had the same issue but with the XS Max. Same exact issue - Verizon sent a replacement phone and in less than a week it started dropping calls again!
Same here but with XS Max!
UPofMI, I agree that drop calls can be a bit frustrating. Let's work to get to the bottom of this. I see you stated the LTE setting adjustment temporarily worked. Have you experienced any issues since making the change? If so please explain?
JustinB_VZW
I just got my new iPhone Xr about two weeks ago, Last week it started having the same issue. I made sure I had all the updates (IOS 12.2) and restarted the phone. It worked for less than a week and the same issue returned.
This same thing has been happening to me for months. Apple ran diagnostics on my first Xs and determined that it was dropping calls at a highly irregular rate. They immediately replaced the phone with a new Xs. Set up the new Xs and again, it is dropping calls. Always happens after exactly 6 seconds. Happens even in areas where there is perfect reception. Fully shutting the phone down and restarting temporarily solves the problem (turning on Airplane Mode for 5-10 seconds does not help).
The call will be perfectly clear, and the person on the other line is 100% clearly audible. They can also hear me perfectly clearly and then the call is instantly cut off after 6 seconds.
I am running the latest release iPhone Xs with the latest iOS software (12.2).
PLEASE FIX THIS!!
We want to make sure that you have access to all the most important people in your life and I apologize that you are having trouble with your phone. Is this happening indoors or outdoors? Do you have your Wi-Fi function turned on when this happens? Does this happen with all contacts or just certain ones?
Mine is an XR, did this today while outside in good service area, I restarted and it was good till about 5 minutes ago... Inside with wifi connected when it did it again. I too use this phone almost solely for business purposes and not fond of sporadic call dropping.
Thanks
Mine has the same problem. The Verizon store employees admit that it’s a problem and keep telling me to just reset it. Apple acts like they have never heard of the problem. It’s ridiculous that a phone costbghis much and you have to reset it every day just to make a call!
Busey20, dropped calls are never fun! I understand you use your device solely for business, and I want to help get to the bottom of your service concerns. To better assist, when did this begin? What is the nearest intersection, city, and state where the problem persists? What is your current software version? Settings > General > About > Version.

Just switched to Verizon from Sprint at the beginning of this month. We have 2 iPhone XR phones and experience the call dropping issue. I contacted Verizon support and I’ve reset our phones, removed and replaced the SIM cards, etc etc. As others have experienced, it seems sporadic without a clear cause or pattern. We did not experience this with our iPhone 8 phones with Sprint. We would like to remain Verizon customers, but I’m not happy with this inconvenience. Has there been any other update on a fix for this? I’m fed up having to power off and on my phone constantly just to be able to use it.
Amdowell87, thank you for taking the time to get in touch with us on this platform. As new members of our Verizon family, we definitely want to help ensure that you can get the best service possible. So we can begin to look into this with you, can you please provide us the ZIP Code that you are currently experiencing this issue in?
JoseL_VZW
48504, 48457, 48603, 48327...
Home, both of our workplaces, etc. Service maps indicate excellent service. So I don’t see a pattern.
My Apple XR started dropping calls this afternoon. My problem is identical to the problem being reported by the other Verizon customers on this thread. My XR also drops calls after about 6 seconds. I have owned the XR for a little over a month. I love the XR, but this problem is unacceptable.
Agree with you. Apple has replaced the phone, new SIM, problem returns. Very frustrating when spending this kind of money.
With all due respect, you keep asking the same questions to each member. No matter what suggestion that has been made, the problem returns. Phone calls all over the country, indoors and outdoors, wifi and network, any phone number, incoming and outgoing, drop in 7-8 seconds. The phone beeps and the call is lost. Restarting the phone doesn't work, setting the VTE only, doesn't work. Phones have been replaced, SIM cards have been replaced. How do we get answers?
Amdowell87, having 2 iPhone XR phones and experiencing call dropping issues can be frustrating, especially if it's your main form of communication. Thanks for clarifying the steps you have completed. We researched the zip codes provided and no outages/alerts have been reported. Let's gather some more details. Aside from the dropped calls, any other problems (texts/data)? Any recent changes (new update, new apps, etc.)? Are the dropped calls with certain numbers or all the numbers you contact?
GilbertoL_VZW
So this thread is 2 and a half months old and you still haven't fixed the frikkin issue. I begrudgenly switched to apple and this garbage with the Iphoney right out of the box. Fix the issue or shove the phone up your butt.
I have same issue and not in same locations. Very frustrating to reset network every time and then call back and apologize profusely to everyone that calls. Everybody laughs and thinks we don’t know how to use our phones. If there’s a problem admit it and fix the problem, bad chip?
I have the same issue with my Xr purchased in March. When I hard reset it will work for a few weeks and then start again. Happens indoors with WiFi enabled and not enabled. Twice when in Chicago (west loop and downtown), twice in Michigan zip code 48884. Happens with incoming and outgoing calls of various phone numbers and carriers.
rdulbandzhyan - It's our top priority to provide you a seamless network experience, and I'm sorry to hear that you're experiencing challenges with your calls. Don't worry. We are here to help you, and we would love the opportunity to get the issue with your calls resolved. I reviewed the areas you mentioned and found no issues or outages to report. Do you only experience dropped calls at the locations you provided? Do your calls drop during certain times of the day? Is the issue with your calls happening outdoors as well?
-JacobV_VZW
My dropped calls are random, 4 times in the last 10 days. Reset will off-on.
My wife has the same problem. Every day after teaching in a building with very poor reception, her phone won't connect unless we reset the network settings.
She took the phone to a verizon store, and they said to go to Apple, that it's a phone issue. From this thread, it appears that she is not alone.
Have there been any solutions? From our experience it appears to happen after the phone loses a connection...it then doesn't reconnect unless the network settings are reset, which is a pain to do every time she leaves the building. Texts work, just not phone calls.
Update: I updated to iOS 12.3 and still have the call failure issues. In the description of the update, it mentioned call failure issues with WiFi calling, but nothing specifically for the issues we’re all experiencing, which is disappointing and honestly pretty upsetting.
THIS NEEDS TO BE ADDRESSED. NO MORE QUESTIONS ABOUT ZIP CODES, ETC. IT IS AN ISSUE THAT, FOR WHATEVER REASON, IS AFFECTED BY HAVING “VOICE AND DATA” SELECTED IN THE “ROAMING” SETTINGS MENU. WHEN YOU SELECT “DATA ONLY” ON THIS MENU, THE PROBLEM GOES AWAY. THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE BECAUSE YOU NO LONGER ARE ABLE TO ACCESS INTERNET WHILE NOT ON WIFI DURING A CALL.
MLonde,
I know how important it is for your wife to have the most reliable network when she leaves work. How long have she been having this trouble? Does anyone else around her have the same problem? What is the intersection and Zip code she's near when this happens?
JenniferL_VZW
What is the last troubleshooting step you've completed (if any), as well as the time duration it's been since this has been completed? AnthonyM_VZW
I’ve turned my phone off then on, I’ve toggled airplane mode, I’ve reset my phone completely, I’ve removed and reinserted my SIM card. I took my phone to Verizon to return it. They showed me that if you go to the Roaming Menu and select “Data Only” instead of “Voice and Data” the issue is resolved. However, updating to iOS 12.3 was supposed to fix this. It did not. I’ve been experiencing the issue every day when I turn “Voice and Data” back on. Any other troubleshooting steps you recommend?
I have the same exact issue. As soon as I place a call 3-5 seconds later the call will drop. I have reset the network settings, completed a factory reset, checked SIM card for damage, had my phone setup on a diagnostics test with Apple Support, and still no resolution. Something needs to be done to fix this issue.
Wife and I are in the same boat, had the problems from the beginning. We have tried everything suggested (even download the trouble shooting app). Very frustrating!
We're truly sorry to hear about the dropped calls that you and your wife are experiencing with your iPhone XR devices, Jhouseman1. Being able to make and receive phone calls is key to keeping you connected.
When did this issue begin? Does this occur only in certain areas? Are all calls impacted? Also, does this happen both indoors and outdoors?
LauraF_VZW
I have to say that just reading your canned responses to an obviously known problem is not only frustrating, but insulting. You haven't answered a single direct question in over 4 pages of the same complaint. Clearly there's a problem and you keep trying to dodge that you have no known fix for it. Software update, locations, interferance, blah blah blah. If you don't provide the services we pay for you are in BREACH OF CONTRACT. Just fix it or be honest about it. I've been a loyal customer of Verizons for over 10 years and this is some of the most ridiculous non-action I've ever seen. Are we dealing with Verizon or Comcast cable here?
This just started yesterday. It worked fine from March until now. It doesn’t matter if I am home or away. I NEED MY PHONE! Will Verizon fix this or Apple? I don’t live within 200 miles of an Apple store!
I am also experiencing the same problem, after 10 seconds the call just stops, doesn’t hang up just stops all audio. Resetting the phone will fix the problem but in a day or two the problem will return and it’s very frustrating. It does not matter where, when, or who I call.
We don't want this to be an ongoing problem. Sorry for this inconvenience. Does this issue affect every call or when calling certain phone numbers? Are you using Wi-Fi Calling when you have this drop call issue? Wi-Fi Calling allows you to make and receive calls over a Wi-Fi network if cellular isn't available. For more information about Wi-Fi Calling, click the link below:

Are you connected to a network extender when you drop calls? A network extender enhances your indoor and 4G LTE data and voice coverage to provide better service for your 4G LTE mobile devices. It's an extension of our 4G LTE network that's placed directly in your office. For more information about how a network extender works, click the link below:

My iPhone Xr worked just fine for the first month or so and now I can't make or receive a call on it that stays connected for more than 2-3 seconds. I've been through all the trouble shooting links and have not been able to resolve the problem.
I can't tell from this thread whether the problem is the phone, Verizon, or both.
I can tell you that I'm spending way too much money per month to have a phone that only allows me to text, email, and look at the web. I can already do all that on my iPad.
It appears from the quantity of inquiries and the futility of solutions being offered that the only option is to trash the phone and start over with a different phone and carrier.
I switched to Verizon from Sprint due to network issues.
I am paying more after switching to Verizon thinking that I would get great service. I ported 4 lines from Sprint. Three out of 4 lines never worked properly. I visited the store where they reset some settings. The problem comes back. I talked with online rep who did the reset and again after a while the problem came back. Last time about couple weeks or so ago they told me that someone will call me back to tackle the problem. NEVER GOT A CALL. Horrible customer service.
On three lines (2 XR and 1 Iphone 7) we are forced to use facetime which uses data and then they charge more for Data when we run out.
It has been pain since I moved all my lines to Verizon thinking I would not have to face connectivity/signal issues.
I am at this point that I would probably go back to Sprint since they at least have great customer service.
Switching to Verizon = Higher cost + Horrible customer service + failed signal
Please be sure to delete your phone number as this is a public forum, your privacy, and secure information is at risk.
Having trouble when you first start service is not how we want to start things off. Rest assured we will provide you the help that you need. The last thing we'd want is for you to go back to your previous provider.
I will also send you a private message to best assist with your port-in and address any account concerns.

I have same problem, with husbands phone! What’s fix Verizon??
It looks to me this is going on for some time (January 2019) without resolve. That’s 8 months of customer complaints! In this thread alone, I’ve just read 11 pages of customer complaints with the same q’s being asked and remaining unanswered countless times. I had to skim toward the end bc it was some ridiculously repetitive without resolve. If I’ve overlooked resolve, I’m happy to stand corrected
Doesn’t seem too complicated; you have a large customer base with calls being dropped from iPhone X series devices. I’ll add the device runs extremely sluggish in every capacity, period. It cannot seem to execute task.
Last nite, it dropped call Vz to Vz, XR to XR about 15/20 times consecutively. Then all of a sudden it works.
Sure seems obvious it’s isolated to your network with this series of iPhones! Why wouldn’t you work with Apple and get a permanent fix?
Nothing works to resolve permanently, any measures are just a temp fix and it comes back.
I’m beyond completely frustrated! Like others, I just left ATT (12/2018) after over 20 years to join Verizon family. If this is how ya treat customer base, I too am rethinking the switch.
It seems pointless to call Apple or Vz wireless as others have pointed out it’s been a big fat waste of their valuable time.
A definitive answer with a comprehensive fix is what is needed.
Anxiously awaiting the solution!!
Hi, Kellykoz,
Apple recently released a new iOS update that addresses an issue with dropped calls. AS the update was recently released, it is currently being pushed out to XR and XS devices.
What iOS version are you currently running?
If you are not sure, go to Settings> General> Software Version to confirm.
Do you have Enable LTE set to Voice & Data? If you do not know, please go to Settings> Cellular> Cellular Data Options and tell us what you see here.
