My phone just installed Summit IMS on my phone, when I try to draw up the app info it pulls up message+. Are these apps related or is this supposed to be a hidden process? Lg-v30 Software vs99620j
***update part 2! After an hour the message+ app updated again and the ISM app popped back up. As it's essential for the messages to work, I recommend to all to simply hide the app so it continues to run but isn't tampered with. This can be done from you main app tray, then options (where you select how to sort the apps) and hide apps, this let's you hide ones you don't need like ISM
Same problem here. Can this be deleted.
Mine is on a Samsung Galaxy s7
I just contacted verizon and they did not download the app .
Showed up this morning on my unlocked S10 on Verizon. ????
I deleted the app Messanger + disappeared.
So should we just delete the app?
Showed up on my Note 8 this morning. How did you see it associated with Messanger+ ?
It doesnt look easy to uninstall...just a disable button available for me.
if you disable the Summit IMS Service app, it disables Verizon's Messanger+ texting app.
Appeared on my LG V40 this morning. Shows up under message+ when I check the info on this app.
It's definitely associated with Messanger+. This app wasnt on my phone yesterday morning. My Verizon Messages+ app got updated 14 hours ago and now this IMS Service app is installed.
This is DEFINITELY associated with the Messanger update.
Mine shows service as "Stopped" but nothing re Messsage + seems to be affected. I don't like the fact that an app is downloaded and automatically gives permissions that I didn't approve. Verizon denies they did it (Talked/Chatted with 3 different people), but it clearly is associated with Message +.
UPDATE*** This wasn't a known issue until I did a screen share with a Verizon tech. The following steps removed the app: Open App info for Message+ - clear data - force stop - disable message+ - power cycle phone - open app info through settings - reenable message+
This did remove the IMS app, which is a back door for the message service to access the network... DO NOT CHANGE ANY SETTINGS IN THE IMS APP! Higher tech levels are working on a roll out fix for those unable to fix it themselves with the steps listed above.
Thx for the help jordan
I just did the above process, and it did not remove the IMS Service app...
This showed up on my Pixel 2XL so I uninstalled it. When I did, my messenger app went with it. I reinstalled the messenger app through the Play store and now Summit IMS is back.
@JordanL did the tech say what is the point of the app addition? The only other thing I noticed was that my Message + said it was connecting over wifi, which in my case is helpful when not in range of the cell towers
It is supposed to be a background running source that connects the message+ service to the Verizon network exclusively. As it varies by location, if it's changed it could result in mishandling of messages and failed delivery. It's supposed to fix the issue they have had on the east coast but was a national roll out. With some bugs
Same here.
You can delete it but messages + may not.function normally.
I looked through it a little and I noticed it say sip = session initiated protocol this is protocol enabled by your messeges.app to share or sync data/ messages in some form. Delete it app will most likely lose functionality
Summit IMS app appeared today. Samsung Galaxy S9 plus.
What is it?
When I go to app info, it takes me to Verizon's Messenger+ app.
Any response yet from Verizon?
I spoke with them several times today. Answers and solution is in the thread

I dont user messenger +. I deleted it
What is this app for? I heard that Verizon was going to release an app to block robocalls and I'm wondering if this is it? And why doesn't Verizon send an SMS message or e-mail to let us know about these additions and what they are for?
The spam call blocksr is simply called "call filter" this IMS app is an app meant just for message network connection.
***Update as of this morning, there was another update to the message+ app that removed the IMS app from the phone. If you still have the app, check the playstore to be sure your message app is up to date
I know it's confusing that you haven't been able to delete the Summitt IMS app, Swartz. At this time, this concern is under investigation and no further updates are available. I hope this helps.

JordanL, making sure that you can control your device to your liking is a must, so I am eager to help. As you mentioned, after the Message+ update, version 6.8, users are unable to remove the IMS Service app. We are currently aware of the IMS Service app being displayed on your device. Our Message+ team is working towards a resolution. Thank you for your patience.
