Why am I paying line access as an individual user?

I was misled by Verizon - saying that I would be paying $30 for my device every month - when in effect I pay $70 - which includes a whopping $20 dollars for line access. At least when other providers bake in these costs into the costs of the plan, I KNOW what I am going to be paying. I can make the informed decision of not buying a plan that I cannot afford.

Now I am locked into the phone and can do nothing about it. Thank you for that.

I am not complaining about the variety of unexplained surcharges, but I do feel scammed paying $20 for something that is meant for mutilple users using a line.

Can some one explain what "line access" means for individuals? That is WHY EXACTLY is it charged? What is costing Verizon this $20 that it needs to take from me?

This took less time to find than I did reading your post. Under the data plans, it says $20 line access per phone line + tax on top of the cost of the plan itself.

Unlike Sprint, Verizon actually has customers. Over 150mil customers means maintaining a network isn't cheap. Unlike other carriers, Verizon is up front with the line costs. It's only recently that line charge was baked into the cost of the unlimited plans to copy TMobile.

For some perspective, single Unlimited used to be $65 for the plan and $20 line access. Single Unlimited for the 3 tiers ranges from $80 to $100. Line charge was always there, some plans are more honest about them.

I swear this question was just asked a few days ago in another thread? Why multiple threads on this? Anyway you are not beign scammed. If you are on a share plan there is a line fee even if you only have one line. And it is mentioned on the plans. Which plan do you have where it's not mentioned?

Every other plan is a single line with the line fee baked in. You're not getting $20 knocke dof you plan so if you don't like it feel free to go to another carier where they also have line fees where they are diectly mentioned or baked into the cost of the plan. The cost is the cost. You are either willing to pay it not.
