XS Max poor LTE

Have a new iPhone XS Max and I am getting really poor LTE service now. Few bars, no bars, slow speed. Really bad. Any suggestions?

The funny thing is, I too have the same issue with my xsMax after switching from a 8+. Before upgrading I consistently had 4 bars of LTE signal strength. I bring home my Max and immediately notice 1 to 2 bars at all times... It never changes!!

I have reset carrier settings, turned off and back on airplane mode, hard rebooted.... Everything that has been suggested on countless user forums... No change.

I do get a significant bump in signal strength when I'm not in my house, however with all previous phones I always had strong 4 bar coverage in my house.

Just wondering what the issue is with the network?

Same here. My wife has an XR and I have an XS. We got both of these at the same time. She had an iphone8 and I had an S8 that worked perfectly before. I ts been months and trying to trouble shoot but no ilimprovements.

Very slow to upload screens on data and poor connection on phone calls. I brought my wife over from ATT to consolidate bills but now she is angry that her cell service and data is way worse on Verizon. I’m unhappy since I upgraded from a Samsung to iPhone and have worse service. I have followed the steps of turning off/on the LTE service and resetting the phone but it’s still awful.

I got this problem when I switched from beyond unlimited to one of the new unlimited plans.

Yea. My wife and I are moving elsewhere and to different phones. I’m going back to Android and she can go back to her iphone8. These new phones are garbage and being told to reset Airplane mode,is not a fix.

I too have very bad reception issues on Verizon on an XS mainly happens in congested places (like a parking lot with bunch of cars) and I assume it has to do with Apple using Intel modems because i never had this on my S8

I too have issues with my XS max that I never had with my 8S Plus. Inside/outside, apps won't load. Doesn't matter the issue it just doesn't work as well as my 8S Plus. No issues with calls or texts...just using data to access apps is the issue. Westfield MA 01085 but issues anywhere I have used this phone. I travel to Montreal and issues there too. I've tried all the fixes that you have provided and nothing has worked. Very unhappy.

What are the zip codes of the route you travel to Montreal? What exact fixes have you tried? Please share details so we do not leave any steps out that can help with a resolution.

My Xs Max is doing the same thing... poor coverage and no data access at all on completely random areas. It works again after turning phone off an on. Verizon has sent me 3 devices by now. Exact same issue.

Done a 100 factory/network resets, iTunes restore, changed SIM, replaced device 3 times and changed my data plan multiple times.

The funiest thing is that my fiancés Xr and my Apple Watch, on Verizon, works fine. Literally I have lost signal/data right next to him and his Xr works fine. And this does not happen in the same locaitons either, so it's definitively not a network issue.

I don't what else to do. Verizon has been of no help. Just the generic messages and information. This has been going on for 6 months now!

I am having the same issue - this is horrible i'm in the process of resetting my phone now. this is a dang joke.

When I first upgraded to 10 XS Max about a year ago, it worked great and has continued to work great until the iOS 13 upgrade. Since that upgrade and all subsequent iOS upgrades, I have lost signal strength in areas where I normally had great signal strength, at times, even with full signal strength I cannot even stream a video or a song. This is so frustrating. Prior to the iOS 13 upgrade, I was able to stream with no issues between my train commute between Baltimore and Washington DC. Now, I am only able to stream for about 1/3rd of my trip. It's not just streaming, facebook updates just stop and I get the circle of death. My wife has the same problem with her iPhone 8 plus. I think someone needs to ask Apple what's wrong with iOS 13 and above.

I can see why you would want answers for this situation, dbutler201. Our goal is to get to the bottom of it for everyone that is affected.

toggle LTE on and off by going to Settings —> Cellular —> Cellular Data Options.

If this method doesn’t alleviate any slowness, you can try resetting your network preferences. You’ll have to reconnect to Wi-Fi network, but it may just fix the bug. Just go to Settings —> General —> Reset, and tap on Reset Network Settings

It's most likely because of the Intel modem. When Qualcomm didn't allow Apple to use its modem, Apple moved to Intel. I don't know why Verizon isn't honest and upfront about the reason XS Max models have poor LTE and even weak wi-fi. There's been no software or service update to fix this.

I also had an 8+ and went to an xs max and it was the worst mistake I ever made, the phone is so expensive and the service is awful!!! I have also tried all suggestions with no improvements. Thinking of switching carriers and phones it if don’t get some answers
