Not receiving verification texts

I just got a brand new iPhone XR today. I am able to receive texts from friends and family but am unable to receive sms verification texts from Verizon or anywhere else in order to log in to some of my apps on my phone. Not sure how to fix this problem

We absolutely want to make sure that you're able to receive SMS texts, Renaa90. Let's get this figured out. Are you able to receive regular SMS from your contacts? Have you tried toggling your iMessage off while attempting to receive the SMS verification texts? Are data and calls working properly on your device?
