Swap SIM iPhone X to 11 Pro Max

Hi guys,

I'm writing this question because I ordered the new iPhone 11 pro max and am getting it tomorrow. Instead of activating the new phone through setup wizard or calling the 1800 number to activate can I just take the SIM from my X and put it in the 11 Pro Max and be good with just that? Please advise

swap SIM to 11
turn on X (no SIM notice ok)
Turn on 11
11 recognizes X, go through set up process
