Moto E4 micro SD

my Moto e4 no longer recognizes my SD card. the apps on it crash upon loading. i removed & reinserted, but it's still no good (BTW it also initiated its own pwr off/pwr on )these apps don't update. I tried clearing the cache. I have not yet re-formatted card. nor factory reset phone. any other suggestions?

Maybe don't install any applications on the SD card. Android doesn't support that functionality anymore and even when it did, you need the highest read-write speed available on an SD card to make the access of those applications as seamless as possible.
