HELP! Autopay has been set up for years and now a $25 late payment??? HELP! Is anyone working at Verizon? This is NOT FAIR. Verizon has made an error and I need the $25 fee reversed.
Late fee from Verizon is $5. Sounds more like a returned payment/NSF fee. Check your bank first.
Your customer agreement:
As Mama23dogs mentioned, late fees are only $5. A returned payment fee is $25. That falls on your bank.
abannister, we are always here if you need us. Unwanted fees are never fun and my goal is to get to the bottom things for you. However, our late fee is not $25.00. I understand you have Autopay set up. Was a payment returned for NSF by any chance? Where do you see that it says late fee?

To be more accurate, the late fee is $5 or 1.5%, whichever is greater. Any late bill above $333.33 would be charged the 1.5% each month.
I agree, though, that this sounds like a payment which was refused by the bank for insufficient funds.
Dear DiaS and everyone,
I REGRET that I went into the Verizon store in December and accepted the "free tablet" for my 85 year old mom. We've been loyal customers for decades and always pay with Auto Pay.
After our visit in December to Verizon, ALL heck BROKE LOOSE with the bill, and hence I'm still writing to you going on 4 months later. Auto Pay has been and is still working. The only information I have from Verizon is "You did not pay your last bill in full" and at one point had a $25.01 unpaid balance.
The Auto Pay has been jumping all around ever since I accepted the nightmare "free tablet." In late 2019, the auto pay was $95.48, then it jumped to $182.72, then back to $117.78, and most recently $132.81.
Every time I try to chat with Verizon, they disconnect me. When I try to write here, it disconnects me. I wish Verizon would allow two-way communication with me by phone. I deeply regret accepting any new services from Verizon. Working with Verizon has been a NIGHTMARE.
You excepted a free tablet, but still have to pay for the service, Which is in the form of a new line attached to your account.
When adding a New line mid month, you will have the prorated charges and activation fee ($20 or $40) billed the following month. This is because Verizon, just like many other carriers, bills you for your current bill cycle a few days into the bill cycle, and your bill is due just before the end of your bill cycle. Additions during your current bill cycle cannot be billed until the next cycle, because you have already been billed for the current cycle. The tablet in question may have a limited amount of data, and may be incurring overage charges. No matter what the reason for the $25 charge, all charges are detailed on your bill. Just expand each line, to see what the individual charges are.
Dear Verizon -- I never have NSF in my bank, so that is definitely not the reason the bill doesn't make sense. I accepted a supposedly "free tablet" and then the nightmare started with my bill jumping all around from being stable at $95, to suddenly $182.72, then $27.78, then $117.78, and most recently $132.81.
DOES ANYONE AT VERIZON KNOW WHY THIS IS HAPPENING? HELP
I wish I had never set foot in the store. This is a huge waste of time.
There should be no overage charges because I have unlimited everything.
Will a senior level supervisor set up an appointment with me to walk through the volatile bill amounts and find out where Verizon has made the errors?
We're very sorry to hear that you have been experiencing so much trouble with your account, abannister. Confusion is the last thing we ever want to hear about from one of our customers. We do offer two way communication by telephone at our usual support phone line 800-922-0204, and you can even request a call using our Click-to-Call service here: https://vz.to/2YwU83z We would be happy to assist you in this platform as well. As many others have pointed out, there is no $25.00 late fee, so you would want to look at the itemized detail next to any fee to see what it is for. If you received a free piece of hardware, that does not come with free service. We'll be sending you a private note as well, in case you would like to proceed within this platform. EricW_VZW
