Adding time to phone after 'payment date' has passed

My 'payment date' on my phone is June 4th.

I have an event i'm going to that weekened which will use up what little money I have for the next 2 weeks.

Can I still add time to my phone after that date has passed and still keep my same phone number, or would i need to get a new number somehow?

And will there be any extra charges?

If you do not refill your card my 12:01 am on the day its due it will expire and you may have to pay $35.00 to have it reactivated also you will be issued a new phone number. This is carved in stone with verizon.

I also sent an 'email' through the Contact Us option to Verizon, and they said that i would have 90 days before my account is totally deactivated...

If that's the case, depending on the phone model it might be more cost-effective to purchase a new one.

When you buy the phone they charge you a $25.00 activation fee so it doesn't really save you anymoney.

I wasn't charged any fees for activation on mine (mine was brand new). Other than keeping your phone number (which you indicated Verizon absolutely won't do on an expired account), why bother paying a $25 - $35 (re)activation fee on a $25 phone? I presume that fee doesn't include any airtime, correct?

That said, if money was *that* tight (that I couldn't afford $15 to extend the service expiration date), personally I still think I'd take a good hard look at any planned (I presume recreational?) "events" in order to keep the phone and service I have. :smileyhappy: Perhaps with a little ingenuity, there's a way to do both. I've spent a bit of time and effort customizing my phone already and that is also worth something, at least to me.

Since you've posted your question to the Prepaid Plans board -- and Verizon doesn't allow (most? any?) contract phones on prepaid service ( too many advanced features, I'd imagine) -- I figured you shouldn't have to specify unless it was the exception.

I am a prepaid customer also and have been for years, when I got my new updated prepaid cell in March they charged me a $25.00 activation fee, and it was stated on my bill, I ordered online so maybe that was the reason, the phone was not cheap it was $99.00. The information I gave you about your question was from the Getting Started booklet that came with the phone under Disclosure Information. Sorry if there was some misinterpreation along the way.

+name here+, if no payment is made before your payment due date your balance will expire and you will have 90 days to make a payment before you lose your number. Since you currently have $0.00 on your account you will not lose your balance if you make a payment on the 5th or 6th of June. There will be no special charges or fees on your account and you will still have your same number, and plan on your current phone as long as you make your payment within 90 days of your balance expiring.

That's what I got in the email from a Verizon rep. So I take that to mean even if i'm 2 weeks late in putting money on my account (which will be the next time I get money), it'll be ok since i'm withing in the 90 day window.

I also asked a friend of mine yesterday who has the same exact phone from Verizon I have, and she said that she's been able to add time to her account after the payment date with no problems

The only reason I really got a verizon phone was i needed a cheap one to call my mother. When I can, i'm switching to MetroPCS. The fees/costs on verizon are too much for me, and i can get more for cheaper on Metro.
