iPhone time of day random reset?

My iPhone (XS Max, latest iOS) occasionally resets the time of day to 4 AM/PM. No obvious misconfig (same as husband’s). I’ve searched but not found others with this problem. I suspect Verizon (recent plan change) but their customer service is so bad I’m reluctant to ask them. Thoughts?

Don't be reluctant to let us know. I am a consumer myself so I understand having a working phone. We do not need our phones resetting. I would love to help. Has the device encountered any physical or moisture damage? Have you downloaded anything new when this started?
