the weather widget says that im in a different town than what i actually am. I added my town and it wont let me change it to the homescreen does anyone know who to do that?
I hope you like to fish, because that is one big can of worms you just opened.
All three of my Eris's (mine, wife's, daughter's) did the same thing. I called HTC on it and they told me how to fix it, but the fix only worked on two out of the three. I'm assuming we're talking about the oem HTC digital clock widget with the weather superimposed over the bottom of the clock. It's a bit of a process, but here you go.
First, you need to drag the clock off your home screen and into the trash. Don't worry, you'll be able to reinstall it later, hopefully with the right city's weather. go into settings-->location, and disable networks and only enable GPS. Now go into programs and select the clock and go to world clock, which will be the widget on the bottom, far left. Using the menu key, delete all cities except "home".
Now, go back to programs and select "weather" and click on the + sign at the bottom right. Then click on "my location" and allow it to find you via GPS in google maps. Check the map and make sure it's showing you in the right place and click "done". Use the menu key to delete any other cities that are saved.
Now go back to home, power down the phone, and then power it back on. Once it's fully booted up, from the home screen...click menu-->add to home-->HTC widget-->clock, now swipe your finger right to left across the screen to get to the clock you want, which shoud be the 3rd of 12 clock options, and click "select". Now wait 15 to 20 seconds. If the right city weather doesn't show up, call HTC tech support at 866-449-8358 and tell them to FIX IT!!!
Like I said, it worked on 2 of our 3 Eris's, but best I could do on my wife's Eris was to get the weather for the city that we are a suburb of, mine actually shows the 'burb we're in.
May the force be with you.
Aren't you glad you asked??
D Dave
Also, make sure that in the "Location" part of "Settings", make sure that "Location Setting" and "Enable GPS Satellites" are checked.
I know somebody's gonna scream "I already did that and it still don't (sic) work!", but I thought it was worth mentioning anyway.
