Xperia 1 iii Wi-Fi calling

I want to buy a new phone, and I am interested in the Xperia 1 iii. This phone is not sold by Verizon, and I have heard that Wi-Fi calling may not work if I have a Verizon sim-card in it.

Is this true? Will Verizon ever allow Wi-Fi calling on this phone?

Most unlocked phones not sold by Verizon Wireless won't be able to use any Verizon Wireless exclusive features like Wi-Fi calling.
