Someone got into our son's Facinate and tried to unlock it by a pattern. It now says on the screen too many logon attempts and will not let anyone go into the phone. How do we bypass it?
I doubt it allows bypass; I understand that incorrect attempts increase the time allowed to unlock. So waiting a while before attempting the correct screen unlock pattern should work.
how can i hard rest it iif it wont let me go to settings?
Your only recourse is to go to a Verizon store. They have the PUK for your phone and can reset it. And yes, you can not do a factory reset since you can't get into your phone. And yes, once the phone is locked, there is nothing you can do to get back in, except let Verizon unlock it for you. I forget what the PU stand for, but K is for Key. It's much like a PIN. Good luck.

Mortb it stands for Pin Unlock Key (PUK) but I am not sure that this will work on the phones personal security code, I believe this is intended to unlock the SIM... http://www.phonescoop.com/glossary/term.php?gid=285
The easiest method is to input the users email and password into the device to unlock the device again and also I think that Ann is correct and you can hard reset the device and restore the device to a working state without unlocking but the user will use all data that wasn't backed up before the reset process..
