Esim QR code??!

I am trying to transfer my phone number from my Verizon SE (1st generation) to my new non-Verizon SE (3rd generation) and very confused about how to do so. Does anyone have any advice?

I tried just doing it device to device, but the new phone said the old phone had to have iOS 16 to do so, which is not available for the first generation SE…
