FiOS reserves 192.168.1.100 for DVR/STB starting addr range?

One of the PC's on my home networked is configeured with static IP 192.168.1.100 (so that my IP phone/client knows where to find it's local server). When the tech set up my FiOS TV, it seems that the address range for STBs/DVRs starts with 192.168.1.100 (assigned by the ActionTec router?). The resulted in a conflict and no FiOS to the DVR that was assigned 192.168.1.100.

Can the starting address for STB/DVR assignments be changed? I can not find any place in the router console to change this..

Yep - understood. Looks like the 100-150 range is hard-coded into the router somewhere.

I solved the problem by working around the issue. I reprogrammed my phone to point to a new address that would not conflict with the STB's.

Case closed!

I'm pretty (93%) sure you can't change specifically the IP range for STB's from the router..

You can, however, give the STB's static IP leases through the router settings as a workaround.

The Verizon STB's use 100 to 150 by default.

I have the Actiontec Rev E Router and have not tried to modify this range. I adjusted my DHCP Range to 100 to 151, as I only want 1 DHCP Address available on my network. All of my other devices use static address that are not in the DHCP Range.

Change DHCP Range:

Logon to Actiontec

Select Advanced

Select IP Address Distribution

Select Edit on the line with the DHCP Server

Starting address needs to be 100 or lower

Ending address needs to be 150 or higher.

Just allow enough addresses outside of the 100 to 150 range to meet your needs.

The screen shows the addresses for:

IP Address Distribution According to DHCP Option 60 (Vendor Class Identifier)

which is what the STBs use.

I also lock down my STBs to keep my Remote DVR Functionality working:

Logon to Actiontec

Select Advanced

Select IP Address Distribution

Select Connection List

Select IP-STB

Edit

Check Off Static Lease Type

You MAY be able to keep the 100 to 150 DHCP Range for STBs, but edit the DHCP Connections to change the STB to 101, 102, etc and make them static. After you make the changes on the router you will need to power cycle the STBs to see if they got the new IP address that you set for them.

I have NOT tested this on my setup, but I do have all of my STBs setup with static addresses (100 and 101).
