Two stb in same room

This may be a bit weird, but I will explain.

I have a hd dvr box connected to component 1. Sitting next to it is a standard stb connected to TV on the set. The reason for two boxes is that I have a second dvr in the house and have the multi room feature. I want to be able to continue to record on the dvr, while watching something from the other room's dvr.

Here's the problem. All remote controls work on all boxes, so when I try to pull up a menu or change channel on the standard box, it sends the same commands to the dvr.

If I haven't totally confused everyone, I'm hoping that there is a solution.

I wouldn't worry too much about this. The new IMG 1.9 software release, which is set to come out over the next month or two, will allow you to watch recorded programs even on another DVR.

there is nothing fancy that needs to be done, you simply need to block the eye of the box while changing channels on the other.

its kinda a micky mouse type of thing to do but it works, and people normally but a piece of cardboard in front of the front display.
