Hey guys! Just had a few questions. To tell you a little about my situation, we currently have Verizon's Triple Play. Our plan is made up of the following:
1. FiOS TV Extreme HD
2. FiOS Internet - 25 Mbps/15 Mbps
3. Phone Plan
It says online that we have a My Agreement for 12 Months until 12/2010 and a 24 Month Price Guarantee untill Dec/2011.
There are many features that are pretty much unnecessary. For example, my parents only use the internet for emailing/browsing purposes, and you guys can probably agree that a 25 Mbps is an overkill. In terms of their TV viewing habits, they watch television very sparingly, and when they do occasionally sit in front of the tube, they usually only watch 4-5 cable channels regularly. They didn't even know about the HD channels on our TV plan until I came home from college and found out myself. Our TV plan has over 320 channels/+60 HD chanels.
I noticed that there were many things that could be changed on our plans, and is there a way to lowering these costs? Will this violate our contract and have to pay termination fees if we, say, change our FiOS TV/Internet plan to something lower?
If we can't, our AT&T cellphone plan is ending, and we can't wait to switch out. If we do go to Verizon, could this provide grounds to changing our Triple Plan to something that fits our needs?
Thanks alot guys, I appreciate your help!
Note: My parents are very limited in English, and I feel they didn't know what they were really signing up for (they still don't know what FiOS is). My father told me when he called in to order the service he saw in an ad mailer, a bundle that said Verizon offered an all-in-one TV/Internet/Phone plan. The last thing I want to do is insinuate they were taken advantage of by the Verizon reps, but I'm quite displeased about much of this unnecessary features we have on our plan. Is there some fault to lay on my parents end? Absolutely, but I cant understand how they could sign up for something so excessive such as this (words can't express how cheap my parents are!). We are not interested in ending or canceling our contract, and for the services we do use, we LOVE it compared to our last TV/Internet provider.
