BBU location question

The FAQ indicates that the BBU is generally located inside the house/garage. I'm assuming that's because most people don't have external power outlets available. But assuming there is an external outlet available near the ONT location, is there any reason the BBU can't go outside? In other words, is it weatherproof?

I live in Southern California and the weather we have isn't terribly extreme. I'm just trying to plan out where everything is going to be before I place my order.

No, the BBU must go inside. It is not weather proof. The ONT can go either inside or out but the BBU must be on the inside of the building.

and depending on local building/electrical codes, it generally must be located within about 20 feet of your electrical panel
