Help with hooking up equipment

I have a HDTV, HD DVR (6416) and a standard VCR/DVD combo that I want to hook together. Can't find any diagrams and Verizon won't help me. Can anyone tell me how to connect the 3 pieces together? My kids are really missing their DVDs. It all worked until I hooked up the DVR recently.

1) Coax from wall to STB input.

2) HDMI (or whatever you want) from STB output to HDTV input.

3) Composite (RCA/red white yellow) from STB output to DVD/VCR input

4) Composite from DVD/VCR output to TV input.

Turn TV to "Video 1" or "Composite" or comparable input. If you want to record to VHS, change DVD/VHS channel to "input" or comparable channel. Tuning directly with VHS/DVD tuner will not work because a) it's not hooked up directly to wall with coax and b) even if it were, it wouldn't work unless it had a digital QAM tuner, which is highly unlikely, and even then it would only get Clear QAM (unencrypted) channels, basically 1-49 and 460-549.
