power on STB and channels

When I turn on either of the the STB (QIP2708-1), we have, the channels that come on are not the ones on when turned off the night before. One comes on 190 and the other 123.

I would really prefer to set the channel I want to come on, but according to Verizon, that is not an option they offer. It is supposed to come on with the channel it was on when turned, I have been told.

Does anyone have a clue as to why this is occurring? Thanks.

Wow, the SD DVR! Verizon offered those for such a short period of time, I didn't know anybody had them any more.

I have no idea. But I have read on some forums about that happening on the QIP6416 DVR. I just went and searched, found reports of the problem but could not find any resolution noted. I guess people just gave up....

Have you tried pulling the power plug, waiting 10-15 seconds, and plugging it back in? This will force DVR to re-boot itself. It might help, might not, but worth a try.

Other than that, I suggest just leaving the DVRs on. I have the QIP6416, I basically never turn it off. There is really no power savings turning them off, several years ago someone did a pretty extensive investigation on the power usage of these Motorola DVRs and found that they pretty much consume almost the same amount of power on or off.

The only way it would change is if you recorded something while it was off. So if you turned the box off on channel 7, but had a scheduled recording on channel 10 for later on, it would turn on channel 10.
