I recently used Service Check Up, found at Verizon home/My Account/Support/Service Check Up, to run a check on my PC's overall status. Check Up indicates a Security Software problem under Internet & Security. However, "fix" does nothing but lead me to a list of possibles and a link to download Vz Home Agent.
My internet program is the latest version of McAfee Total Protection, up to date and running. McAfee Virtual Technician indicates no problems. My Windows firewall is off, McAfee firewall on. In short, I can't find anything wrong.
I contacted support and was told that I needed to turn off my McAfee firewall because it is conflicting with the "firewall" in my router. I said that would result in constant pop ups from McAfee. The technician had no other answer. I wasn't impressed.
Previously I have run this check, even with an older version of McAfee and received a 100% positive report. I have to wonder if Verizon isn't trying to sell me something. Any similar situations?
Oh by the way, aside from taking forever to open, Vz Home Agent is useless in my opinion.
