Am I able to stream movies from Net Flix through the DVR I got from Verizon and fios or do I have to buy a separate device to do that like a PS3 or a WII or something else.
You'll need a seperate device. Currently there is no netflix compatibility with FIOS equipment.
You'll need something like....
PS3
Wii
Xbox360
many bluray players have Netflix
Some internet ready TV's also have Netflix
Or connect a computer directly to the TV
Kudos how would I find out it the TV is internet ready and has Netflix on it already. Would I have to go to the maker of it, Sony Bravia. Thank you for the reply.
Most manufacturers will make that fact well known as part of their marketing material. But yes, the manufacturer's web site should tell you if your device supports Netflix if you have the model number.
The presence of this capability on TV's is a newer feature -- so if your TV is more than a few months old, chances are you don't have it. Many BluRay players on the market today support it (and they tell you outright they do) and are fairly inexpensive -- so that's probably your best route to go unless you already happen to own a PS/3 or Xbox 360.
I just saw that I had an ethernet port on the back of the DVR and a USB port on the front of it. If I plug a WiFi adapter into the usb port and it connects to the wireless router in the office on the network will I be able to stream video through it then.
No, the ethenet and USB ports on the STB's are disabled. The Verizon equipment cannot stream Internet video of any kind(except for VOD or the Youtube widget with Media manager). For streaming of any kind, you will need a 3rd party device.
Wii, PS3, computer, Internet ready TV, bluray player, etc.
