My new TiVo Premiere arrives tomorrow and I just spent 40 minutes on the phone with a FIOS rep (and her Supervisor) trying to order a CableCard. They could not figure out why they couldn't order a CableCard for me. They ended up calling both the local store as well as tech support and while I couldn't hear the conversation, apparently they were told that Verizon is phasing out CableCard and have none to provide me.
The lady was very nice on the phone and I could buy how one person was confused/inept but all of these people? Has anyone heard about any of this or did I happen to get an entire collection of people with heads up their arses. Other than repeatedly saying "What the...?" (in a kinder, nicer way), I had no way to argue with them. I told them its federal law (FCC) that all cable providers must offer CableCards but that just confused them more.
What should I do?
