I recorded the Oscars in HD on my DVR last night but they went past the programs allotted time causing me to miss the last 3 awards. How do I add time to programs...what are my options? Vickie.
In the settings for the scheduled recording, there should be one for "stop X minutes past end" or something to that effect.
I Think it's called record with options, so look for something like that, and it will give you advanced options.
Also, if you got to DVR => View Schedule and select the program you want to extend there is and option to change the start or end time. You are limited to some fixed time extensions like 5 , 10, 15, 30 60, or 90 minutes (to the best of my recollection).
Unfortunately, all the suggestions everyone gave you were if your program hasn't started. If it is already recording, your only option is to record the program right after it. If you already are, like I did with last night's Oscars/Barbara Walters (west coast) then I was happy the transistion was seamless and I didn't miss a second.
Your best bet with awards shows (or live sports) is to always allow extra time after the scheduled end time.

Actually, there is another option. Go intot the DVR menu and set a manual recording. This is especially useful if you only want to add 15 minutes and the show following is 90 minutes. Saves a lot of recording storage time if the programs are all HD.
