CLOCK NOT DISPLAYING ON STBs

I have all my STBs programmed to show the clock; however frequently, the channel will display instead of the clock.

Anyone have this problem and/or solution? The tech on the phone told me to reset the boxes, which I did. He also said that it may take up to 1 minute for the clock to show once a channel is selected (ridiculous for modern technology). I live in NYC and just switched from Time Warner due to poor service, bad equipment.... but at least the clock showed IMMEDIATELY after changing the channel............I hope FIOS turns out to be more reliable, esp after digging up my driveway to connect from the street......................

thoughts? suggestions??

First, my Verizon STBs have always had a delay in showing the clock after changing channels.I think it is good, it gives you time to really know what channel you are on. The "up to one minute" statement does seem to be true; sometimes the clock appears after only 10 or 20 seconds, sometimes up to 1 minute, sometimes even immediately, but I don't think it is ever any longer than a minute. Someone posted in a forum I read that it was based on the internal clock in the STB, that when the time wrapped to x minutes 0 seconds that the clock was then displayed - I can't verify that, but it seems reasonably possible to me.

As to the channel number always being displayed instead of the clock. This happened to me suddenly several weeks ago, I didn't change anything and one day the channel just stayed on the display, no clock, on all of my STBs. My Menu setting still showed to display the clock, but I wasn't getting it. I went into the Menu I don't know how many times and changed the setting from Clock to Channel and back to Clock, eventually I apparently did something in the correct sequence (never did figure out what), but suddenly the clock started showing again. My recommendation is to just keep trying.....

So, the net is, at least from my perspective, it can be fixed, but I don't know how
