I am sure this Topic has been covered before but I can find no specific reference/ solution to my issue. Vz Tech support has been no help.
I have Fios service with Action tec MI424-WR router. I want to access M1 Gold Alarm remotely and have set up rule to fwd port 2601.
- I have tried typing in WAN IP address directly into browser . When on my internal network I get router login page which I think is correct. When I am outside my net work I get error message saying "cannot connect"
- when I try to use CanYouSeeMe.org I get "Error: I could not see your service on 98.xxx.xxx.98 on port (2601), Reason: Connection refused' Message.
- When I ping WAN IP I get successful connection response?
I have tried changing the remote access settings in router to see if this would make a difference and non did. I release it may be my PF rule which I have set up as follows:
Specify Public IP Address (blank)
Networked Computer / Device: (Specify address selected), 192.168.1.9 <IP of the device I want to access>
Protocol
Rule Name Ports Action
PF1
TCP Any -> 2601
Add (none selected)
WAN Connection Type: (all BB devices selected)
Forward to Port: (2601 )
When should this rule occur ?(always)
From reading I know I will need to set up static IP addresses using domain servers but for now I just wanted to test that I could connect remotely. I am new to this so I may be overlooking something. Any direction will be appreciated.
Thanks in advance and please make sure responses are not too technical?
