This thread is for any other Media Manager Issues not specifically addressed in the other Media Manager threads.
OK, I just installed a HD-DVR with media manager. I installed the utility on one desktop PC and configured the shared folders - both music and picture content. Here are my issues:
1. constantly I'm unable to play audio, getting the message "this song has been moved or deleted, or is corrupt. Please remove it from your playlist". Each and every file gets this treatment. None of them have been moved, deleted, or are corrupt for that matter. I don't think it's a firewall issue since after my initial configuration files were accessible and playable.
2. why isn't the media manager option available on 2 of my other STB's? I could swear the media manager option appeared on one of the non-HD STB's and now it has vanished. It IS available on my only other HD STB.
3. Try viewing your "Music Manager" files by "Artist". Is a simple sort too much to ask for? I'm blindly scrolling through pages of unsorted names in search of one artist in a list of 452.
4. Unlike a competitor's product, media manager from what I gather, does not allow me to transfer recorded video content from DVR to my PC.ANyone know if Verizon is addressing this? That was a very cool feature that I can't find here in MediaManager
This product cannot possible be this bad, and it's me who hasn't configured it properly right? I can handle the truth! heh.
Greetings,
I am getting the same thing and have since day one. I am not sure what is the problem. However, I went through an extensive support session wherein the 2nd tier tech connected to my machine checked all my settings, shared the files, etc. all to no avail. It is funny how it can stream the pictures no problem. None of the music files work including the sample FIOS music provided. The texh says he was going to research and call me back the next day. Of course, that was weeks ago and I haven't heard a thing. Being rather computer and network savy myself I found this problem rather strange being that other media is recognized and playable or viewable. There is no inherent reason as to why music would be not playble if the file(s) are viewable by the HD-STB. I thought the problem maybe secretly due to a music copyright issue or something. I am still experimenting. I was told that this is a new product with little feedback or support at this time. Hopefully, someone will be answer this soon. By the way, I agree video should be the next step as with all other media managers. Good luck and please post any solution you may come across, as will I.
Winston
Has anyone discovered a solution to the problem of not being able to play an mp3 file? I can see on the TV's screen my PC's folder with all of the mp3 files, so this is frustrating to say the least.

This is a bit of a complex question. Please let me know if you need more information:
Currently, I have Verizon FiOS with Internet & TV. The internet is setup this way:
image available: http://img30.imageshack.us/img30/7519/picture2atu.png
The reason for this setup is because the Verizon Router does a poor job doing wireless. Anyway, the Win32 machine is connected
via wireless to the router. Upon looking at the DVRs settings, the DVR is connected to the Verizon router via the actual cable, NOT
ethernet.
I've connected an ethernet cable from the linksys router to the DVR router. I get a link signal and even get activity but it does not
receive an IP address. I've read various forums and found out that the DVR's ethernet is not properly enabled.
In any event, I'm trying to use the Media Manager with my laptop (the only machine that has Windows; others have linux & mac os).
Is there a way to:
You cannot "add" any internet sites. Earlier Beta versions of the Video Manager software streamed ONLY YouTube from the Internet. When they went with the release, they DROPPED YouTube and added Veoh, Blip and DailyMotion. They say that they are working on getting YouTube back as well as adding others, like Hulu, possibly, but that requires negotiations and contracts and such, One flippant answer I got was that for Hulu content, I should just use VOD for those shows - which is a bogus answer, since VOD doesn't stockpile as extensive a backlog of shows as is available on Hulu.
Anyways, as an interesting note, I was a Beta tester for the Video Manager, and even today, the computer that had the Beta version loaded includes YouTube access in addition to the other three, while my other computers w/ MM loaded (same latest version) only have the three sistes listed.
Go figure. (The software still works like crap, however)
Much of my music is saved in the Apple lossless format.
Will the format be supported by the Fios media manager anytime soon?
Thanks for the info!
I just downloaded Media Manager about a week ago and have run into some quirks with it ... I haven't been able to find much documentation in the "Help" section of the program.
seriously I see that someone asked about pausing streaming videos 2 months ago and I just installed media manager today and well there is still no pause, rewind or fast forward option? These aren't brand new ideas for playing videos.
When are those options going to be available? And please don't say "sometime soon" or "we are working on it". A month would be satisfactory.
First, I am sorry if this has already been posted, but if so, I am having trouble finding an answer.
I recently ran Windows 7 Upgrade Advisor - to insure all my programs would run when/if upgrading to Windows 7.
Unfortunately, one of the programs that appears to cause difficulity is Verizon FIOS MEdia Manager (V. 9.2.7.2).
It states that I am required to uninstall this program before performing the upgrade, and won't be able to install once Windows 7 is being used.
Any help with this one? Really like the ability to post photos on the TV foir all to enjoy.
Thanks,
Vince
Im running Windows 7 RC and Media Manager installed just fine. No issues whatsoever.
Thank you,
That is good news. I DL'd Microsoft's program here:
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-7/get/upgrade-advisor.aspx
Currently running Vista, and got the result I mentioned above. Maybe someone else can confirm?
Thanks - Vince
How do you add and remove pictures to a folder on Media Manager?
The following steps should be used as a guide to resolve general errors that may occur while using Verizon’s Media Manager.
If all of the above steps have been taken and you still experience issues with Media Manager, please post here of contact Verizon Technical Support at (888) 553-1555.
I have several playlists saved in my WM player and when I try to import them into Verizon Media Manager using the import playlist function the Verizon Media Manager crashes and says " MEDIA MANAGER HAS STOPPED WORKING" anybody have the same issue or a work around for this.
I have the latest media manager 9.2.72
I just installed Media Manager for Mac on my Snow Leopard Mac. I can successfully stream all of my iTunes library, but within Media Manager, the "iPhoto Sharing" tab shows no albums or anything from my iPhoto. I currently use iPhoto '08, which I was under the assumption is supposed to work. I have tried uninstalling Media Manager and re-installing, but that hasn't worked. I made sure that my albums were sharable and public from within iPhoto. I have checked my sharing settings within the System Preferences. Nothing seems to work, and I cannot find any help for this matter. Any feedback would be great!
I have an HP Media Smart Server (running Windows Home Server) on my network where I store all my audio, video, photos etc.
Can I stream directly from that to my Set Top Box and not have to have another PC in the way?
It surely seems like going through another PC is just going to slow things down and get in the way.
My PS3 can stream directly from the server.....saw it immediately.
Thanks for any input
Dom
Is there video quality loss when playing videos from the Media Manager to the TV?
1) Is there a location for an explanation of error messages? In particular a flashing h5
2) Is there way to check/update the STB software to see if that resolves a media manager issue? (in particular the flashing h5)
3) I'm not sure why it seems to sporadically play audio and then decides to show the error message. I've quit/relaunched the app, turned the STB on and off, etc. Does the source computer need to be directly connected to the router via an ethernet cable? Shouldn't it also work via a wireless connection?
4) Just my $0.02 (although I see it's an opinion shared by others) the application seems to have been released without sufficient beta testing. IMO, this thing was not ready for a "gold release."
Hi,
I have installed and uninstalled media manager many times with the same results. It will not show artwork at all in MUSIC and it will not show any images for videos. It does show previews in pictures but only after many uninstall and installs. Any ideas or help will be appreciated. It did seem to work once before Media Manager before I moved my ITUNES from a external drive back to C: drive. Itunes shows all artwork and artwork shows on 2 ipods. But I don't know why it won;t preview videos icons. I am running Windows 7 on a new HP computer. The songs and videos do play via media manager to my TV but with no artwork or video preview icons. Any suggestions?

Running Media Manager on iMac with Snow Leopard and it was running fine for a while, but now crashes everytime it launches. Did a reinstall but still have same issue.
Any suggestions?
I have the exact same issue. Reinstalled as well, same issue.
Hello,
I just purchased a new computer, a apple Imac.
I have installed parallels software and am running windows 7 32bit virtual machine on it.
i have installed verizon media manager on the VM.
However, when i go to my TV and try to detect the device, it fails. Both the imac and VM have an IP directly from the fios router (192.168.1.x)
Is there any settings i need to configure so that the TV will find the device?
Thanks
I had the media manager running great then it asked me to update the software this weekend. So I went ahead and upgraded it. I now get "Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Libarary Error" The problem is when it is trying to run \Verizon\Verizon Media Manager\
Release\ConvertDB.exe. I have deleted and reinstalled the program several times and nothing seems to change this. Any ideas what I can do to get this running?
I recently upgraded to the Home Media DVR from the HD STB. So far, I am impressed with the box's ability to display photos, music, and videos from my PC.
However, I have a couple of questions/comments that hopefully someone can answer:
1.) Is there a way to setup the sort order for the files to be displayed on the box? I see how for the videos, it bunches them by month, but then within that folder, the order appears to random.
a.) perhaps if we could set the view to "list" view rather than "thumbnail" view, we would be able to navigate more easily
b.) if the default view is alphabetic, then how about adding a "search" field so that you can filter on the file you are specifically looking for
2.) When playing music, can we set the screen to show something other than just the title name (kind of like a screensaver, but with other options)? I understand that we can set a screensaver for to appear after a period of time, but it would be nice to have enable it first
3.) When viewing photos, can we setup music to play along with them?
4.) For some reason, when I view the photos, I can still hear the TV program going on the background based upon whatever channel I left at. Is there a way to disable that?
thanks!
I can not locate the general issue Media Manager download site (it used to be on the verizon.com page) Can someone provide the download address.
I am trying to solve a problem that I encounter with the version from testtrack. That version (9.3.31) worked the first time I downloaded it but has not worked since. The TV shows the computer but is unable to locate Media Manager. I have removed the program and reinstall it, checked the firewall (Verizon Security Suite) and done everything else I can think of. The computer is a PC running XP.
I have version 9.2.97 running on a Vista PC and that works fine, but does not support Internet radio
Is this wha you're looking for?
http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/UnProtected/MediaManager.aspx
That is it. Thank you very much. I will not mark the thread as solved yet, in someone has some thoughts on what my problem might be.
This version 9.2.15 has the same problem. Any ideas why media manager will not work on this computer would be appreciated. The firewall software (Verizon and Microsoft) show Verizon media manager as permitted applications. Verizon Media Manager did work for a while and I did not make changes to anything in the interm. I have rebooted the router, the media DVR and, of course, the computer, and reinstall the software but this did not solve the problem. Media Manager works on a PC running Vista and on a Mac but not on this PC running XP all on the same home network. Any ideas would be appreciated
I hope somebody is watching this thread - last post was last year!
When displaying my PC pix on my TV, either the DVR or Media Manager is stretching my 4:3 and 6:4 photos to fill my 16:9 screen. If I crop the photo to 16:9, then the picture shrinks slightly in the vertical. Is there a setting somewhere to make the system retain aspect ratio? I would like to see my photos as large as possible with no distortion; my DVD player (showing .jpg from USB) can handle this issue with no problem.
Cannot get WBZ to work. In windows media player I can, and it points to: http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/asx/WBZAM.asx I can successfully add this url to Verizon Media Manager when adding a custom station, however, it fails to connect when I try playing. Are there any other url's to try?
Also note that Verizon Media Manager translates the above URL to these:
http://208.80.52.130:80/wbzamcmp3http://208.80.52.130:3690/wbzamcmp3http://208.80.52.130:443/wbzamcmp3
But they all fail to connect when I attempt to play them.
Thanks for any help!!

The video links on the Media Manager Web page http://www36.verizon.com/fiostv/web/UnProtected/MediaManager.aspx
are not working.
Having some playback issue with Media Manager, started a couple of days ago. 2 weeks ago I upgraded my AV receiver and then this week also upgraded my HDTV. All was ok, but the new TV (Samsung) has it's own media content playback feature, so in order to set this up I attempted to an additional optical audio connection, so I went from having my Motorola set top DVR's optical out going into my new receiver (no change there) and also my TV's optical audio out connected to another optical input on my receiver. Now I'm having problems with no audio from media manager, until I cycle through all my receiver's inputs and go back to the original (HDMI)--then I hear the sound. Strange. I've gone back to my original connection but I'm still having the problem. I'm guessing it actually might be an issue with the receiver (Pioneer Elite) but am trying to see if I can isolate the problem, in case media manager or even my STB are having issues. TV playback, blu=ray playback, all else is ok, just media manager playback forces me to cycle through the digital inputs to hear sound. Never had the issue before--just hoping there is an easy fix.
Are there any plans to add better codec support, or user specified decoders/transcoders? mkv playback would be nice.
I have a MAC and was using the multi media manager for music and pictures a while back then they had some problems and it quit working.
Now it is back up and working.
But now when I play music the TV channel is also on the screen. Before the album and artist was on the screen now it's only at the top of the screen and the TV picture is on.
Is there a way to turn off the TV picture and only see the album or artist that is playing?
Thanks for any help.
Ok. I posted this question on a different forum but thought I'd also ask it here. Has anyone actually been able to stream a movie file to their TV that was actually viewable? I have tried a few .avi but the picture quality is like blotchy and skippy. It sucks! I am trying right now to convert to a mpeg file to see it is any better but have serious doubts. Anybody got it to work good? Highest supported video and audio? As far as I know there are no answers to these questions yet.
I did, but very poor quality as well. I posted this earlier: http://forums.verizon.com/t5/FiOS-TV-Technical-Assistance/Media-manager-and-windows-media-center/m-p/165795#M18684

Is it possible to have Fios Media Manager connect to the STB if the laptop is connected to a piggy-backed router? My setup is that I have a router to support 35/35 speeds connected to the fios router. The fios router controls the STB. The problem is that my laptop is not being recognized by the STB when running media manager. I was trying to get the new internet radio and youtube working.
Jim
I tried latest Media Manager on Windows 7 Home Premium with HD STB.
I was able to:
1. See photos from the computer
2. Play music from the computer
3. YouTube video was able to search but when click play it gives error saying "Error in playing video" with stop hand sign.
I tried many other videos all gives the same error. I tried to run Media Manager->Help->Video component check(something like this) it shows popup windows that it will restart the Media Manager and asks administrator password. I provided it stopped Media Manager and came back with small popup window again saying something like this "To udpate Media Manager client I should have Media Manager client installed first" and it did nothing.I was never able to play YouTube video but still can browse and search the videos. By the way I have Actiontech router and HD STB both are 3 year old when I signed up originally Fios service.
4. Also I tried Google Nexus One phone to control the STB using Android market app called "Verizon Fios Mobile" but never worked as I was not able to authorize but did successful resignation. There is one more app called "Fios Mobile Remote" which is only for Droid and never worked on my phone. Any help on this?
Any kind of help appreciated.

I just updated my media manager software on my laptop and cannot see any of my mapped drives. Is this a limitation? It used to do this! Please help! I have a Windows 7 media center with terabytes of information on it I want to access.
Alan
Having trouble with this; I've added to "My Stations" http://provisioning.streamtheworld.com/pls/WBZAM.pls. Works beautifully in the Media Manager PC application. But try and get it through the STB client? Unn-Aaahh! Yet others work just fine. PLS is supposedly supported. Anybody got any idea "what gives"?
All help/ideas appreciated!

Has anyone done this? that is my configuration as well... could be as simple as plugging it into my ethernet connection in addition to the coax cable connection?
Well, It's now 2012. Still the same issue.. Will Media Manager ever be "ready for Prime Time"?
Does tech support read these posts anymore?
Has anyone else noticed that many guide listings are displayed with incorrect times many shows are only 15 minutes long? Have at least 5 or more minutes of a previous show included thats unrelated to the show your trying to record. Is this verizons way of getting people to stop viewing live shows and use their on demand versions of the same shows that DONOT let you fast forward. Buzz on the internet is verizon is trying to ween us off the commercial skip feature used during live recordings. Since live versions of shows are missing content the logical conclusion would be that we would seek these shows out on "on demand". I for one will never watch commercials ever again.
