Accessing the router problems

Hi all i am new to Verizon fios,i switched from cable,i am having problems accessing the Actiontec MI424WR router within the browser,i get to the login screen it will accept my username,but when i try to enter the password it keepps adding characters to what i am typing,i tried to copy and past the password and that does not work.what can i do it is driving me nuts.

Ignore the extra characters ... it's a "security" feature. Just type the router password without looking at what displays in the box. This password is NOT the same as your online Verizon account password -- so if you're having difficulty, that may be part of the issue. Search is your friend here on the forums ... the router password discussion has come up numerous times.
