PORT TRIGGER/ FORWARD

Got a new mi424wr Router since my old D-Ling gave me problems. I tried to forward /trigger USD 5189 and 5199 to 4 Computers .

It does not do it (only one computer). The 3. Person in special support Case #131597 sat its not working with this to me useless Router. I am Annoyed.

Not a great description of your problem.

Port forwarding from 1 inbound port will only be allowed to 1 destination port.

Have no idea from your description what you are trying to do with port tiggering.

#1 What port triggering program did you (OR are you trying to) use?

For example: The one from http://www.pcwintech.com/port-triggering-initiator

#2 In the router go to Advanced -> IP Address Distribution

#3 What is the Starting and Ending IP Address?

#4 In the router go to Advanced -> UPnP (or Advanced -> Universal Plug and Play)

#5 If you do not have at least two special type of computers behind your router where you can not define the ports that they use, turn off UPnP in the router.

UPnP - is not need unless you have at least two special type of computers behind your router where you can not define the ports that they use, and you want to keep only public IP.

#6 If you do not know if your special computers support UPnP, allow/don't allow you to define the ports that it/they use - then it would help to know what all of the special computers that you have.

For example a game console is a special type of computer. A game console has no mouse, no keyboard and it is usually connected to a TV.

#7 What are you trying to forward/port trigger for?

For example, VNC (a way to remotely control a computer).

Sorry i did not found the stuff in the Router you mentioned.

I went first to port forward tried to open UDP 5198-5199 to my computer id's. But it worked only with one Computer. The MI424-WR a law’s only one and not a range of IP addresses like other routers.

Then Port Trigger should work. So i put in outgoing UDP 5198-5199>any. incoming UDP 5198-5199 >any.

It worked for less then an hour. Wen i went in and saved it again it repeated loosing the data. I thought first the memory is bad.

After two Verizon help persons i was referred to a "specialist" at 1877 565 2632. And he confirmed me what i found out the Matrix in the router will not hold the data.

I use the obsolete D-Link where i found only the Power Supply being bad. I don,t want to bother with Verizon newest any more.

You can not forward the same inbound port to more than one computer. This is not unique to the MI424-WR. It applies to any router. You say this works on other routers, however, I think you are misunderstanding port forwarding.
As an example, let assume you have three computers behind your router, all running a web server on port 80.
Assuming you could port forward to multiple computers, if the router receives an inbound connection on port 80, which computer
would the router forward the connection to? It can't forward a single connection to all three.
However, you can create three port forwards.
inbound port 80 to port 80 on first computer
inbound port 81 to port 80 on second computer.
inbound port 82 to port 80 on third computer.

What is UPnp?
UPnP is Universal Plug and Play. It is a protocol that allows UPnP aware devices (Xbox, PS3, etc) and applications (torrents, etc) open ports on the router automatically. UPnP is enabled by default on the MI424-WR. If you want to change the setting go to the Advanced page, then look to the Universal Plug and Play link. It shouuld be in the bottom group in the second column.

UPnP is set to automatic.

Echolink Router test will show received port UPN 5198,5199 fail.

I can connect outward. After the outgoing connect Inbound receive works BUT ONLY FOR 10 MINUTES. Also the receive UPN ports show OK.

It means nobody can connect me after a short time and it renders the Verizon Router useless.I dont know what else to do with it. Good i have a absolide D-Link that works where i had now solved Power Supply problems.
