Security is important, check out this article from the NYTimes
If you want to change your security settings and you don't feel you are tech savy, then download Verizon's In Home Agent
Once you have downloaded it and installed it, you will see a splash screen that has an Enter Button. Start by clicking there.
- click Internet (picture of a laptop)
- click Network and Wireless Set up
- click Wireless Set up and Security Upgrade (at the bottom of all the selections)
- click Upgrade your Wireless Settings to WPA/WPA2 and hit next
The next screen is an introductory screen. Simply read it and hit next to proceed
The next screen is relatively important information regarding device compatibility. If you have older wifi devices read this.
- Click Next when you're ready to proceed
- Click WPA2 and then hit next
Make you're unique password. This can be numbers, letters, special characters (!@#&* etc...)
Keep in mind the length of the password. I recommend nothing less than 9 Characters (uppercase and lowercase letters, numbers special characters)
After you're done selecting your password - just hit finish and you should be SAFE AND SECURE!
