New customer, page loading issue

It seems that when I load pages it takes a 5-10 second "break" before it loads the page. Its as if there is a firewall or something slowing it down. I cant seem to figure it out or find a firewall. I currently have Norton on my PC from before Fios. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

hi, try the following.

Clear your Cache and Cookies
Run Internet explorer with no add-ons

Try a 2nd Browser like Google Chrome or Firefox (possible browser issue can be identified by testing in a 2nd browser)
Test it from a 2nd machine like a laptop, friends or work computer

I use firfox and will try and do this. Its not setup like windows but will try and figure it out.

Erasing the cookies didnt help. When I pick a page to go to, it loads a bit then stops, even to the point were the browser is saying not responding and then it loads the page. Very annoying.

try to disable the firefox extensions..

To disable all of Firefox's add-ons, you have to open the browser in its Safe Mode (no relation to Windows' own Safe Mode) by clicking Start > All Programs > Mozilla Firefox > Mozilla Firefox (Safe Mode). A quicker way is to press the Windows key (in XP, follow this by pressing R), type Firefox -safe-mode, and press Enter.
In the Firefox Safe Mode dialog box that appears before Firefox opens, click "Disable all add-ons" and choose the Make Changes and Restart button to run the browser with no add-ons or extensions enabled.

Safe Mode disables everything except the plug-ins. Plug-ins are third-party extensions, such as the Macromedia Flash Player and Adobe PDF Reader, that enable you to use interactive content on the Web. Firefox extensions, or add-ons, that ehance the functions of your browser do get turned off

the difference is between plug ins and extensions. so one troubleshoots whether an extension is causing the issue, vs the other testing whether the plug ins are causing the issue.
