Intermittent FiOS Internet service - Skype

Been having intermittent connection/speed problems with my FiOS Internet service for the last couple of months. Tech support is no help as the problem is intermittent. Problem does seem to occur most often after I initiate a Skype video call. After about 30 seconds, connection is dropped to the extent that I lose my Internet connection. The connection is automatically restored after about 15 seconds, but the damage is done. Generally, I have good down/up speeds (20M both directions), no packet loss during tests or in the router log. Anyone else see this problem?

It seems its either a pc or skype issue since your speed test numbers are doing good. Try downloading the speed optimizer and see if that may change anything.

Are you on a Wired or Wireless connection? Does the problem occur even without Skype running when doing other activities, or is it only when you fire up Skype? Have you checked to make sure your system isn't running low on Resources, especially RAM?

Wireless but have a very good connection. Happens regardless of other processes in use. Less than 1 year old notebook - Intel I3 with 4 gig memory. Have no other issues - full screen, full motion video streaming no problem - only with Skype.

If possible, disable the Wireless radio on the Notebook temporarilly (all laptops have a switch or a keyboard button to disable the wireless radio) and use an Ethernet connection to the router. See if it performs any better.
