Question on returning my Droid now to wait to get the Verizon Nexus One this spring....

I have until Jan 13th to return my Droid (knowing I'll probably have to pay the $35 restocking fee, but that will be worth it to be able to get that sweet battery-saving AMOLED screen and sexy body on the keyboard-less (yay!!!) Nexus One this spring with Verizon.....

 

Question tho'....anyone know for sure how that works as far as your NE2 goes?  I got my Droid as my NE2 the last week of November....if I return it now, does that "erase" the fact that I used my NE2, meaning my full NE2 will be back in effect when I get the Nexus One this spring?

 

Just want to make sure I'm not going to mess anything up with that by returning the Droid now, going back to my LG Dare I had previously,  and then getting the Nexus one in a couple of months.....

If I'm not mistaken (and if I am please someone correct me), it will 'erase' the NE2 usage. Though to be honest, I don't see a really large reason why you should switch from the Droid to the Nexus One, unless you really hate your keyboard. If worse comes to worse you could always dial *611 on your phone and ask a rep yourself.

 

The difference in specs are slight, not enough to really pay a $35 restocking fee and yet another %X.XX amount with buying the Nexus. The largest difference, however, is going to be that The Nexus One (for now) has Android 2.1. The Droid will be receiving it as well, so at that time I would say they are neck-in-neck in comparison.

 

What I like about both of them though is that because they are so close in specs, that when a person asks "What phone should I get?" we can now answer with "Well if you want a physical keyboard go with the Droid. If not, Nexus One." Homogenization between both phones to me is ideal to shape the mold of "We want to reach out to every consumer."
