Sound drop-out using HDMI cable

I too am still having problems with the sound dropping out on some HD channels when running thru the HDMI cable.

It's now been about three years since I had FIOS installed and all I've gotten from Verizon is a set of component cables which circumvents the issue but doesn't fix the problem. I've tried a couple of the fixes that have been posted here along the way but, again, havn't found anything that solves the issue.

I know I'm not the onlyone with this issue. Anyone have a surefire solution?

There is a special setup menu that you can enter, that is NOT part of the regular set to box menu settings. To get there you have to have the tv and the cable box turned on. It's a two hand operation. you want to power the cable box OFF with your hand using the power button on the front display (don't use the remote) and then with your other hand you will use the remote and hit ok and then menu.

These are all pressed one after the other, and try do do about a half second to a second between button presses.

So Power off on the face of the cable box with one hand, wait half second to a second, press ok, and then wait about a half second and press menu. That should get you into the Advanced menu options

You will see a white screen and an all text menu called USER SETTINGS. Use the arrow keys to move around.

Scroll down to a line that says "ADDITIONAL HDMI SETTINGS" and hit a right arrow to get into the next level of the menu

There is a sound setting called AUDIO OUTPUT It says AUTO Scroll to it and change it to Passthrough first. and if it doesn't work change it to

L-PCM.

Exit out of the menus, power the unit off and power it on again
